To anybody, who would like to visit Ostrava, view from the tower could be a key feature, which helps a lot in orientation and understanding Citi Patern (for example new river bank walkways, or excellent "industrial" technology park - Dolní oblast Vítkovic (http://www.dolnioblastvitkovice.cz/default/index/index/lang/en/site/56).Ivan Javorsky

Everybody wil be surprised, that Ostrava is very green town :-). Crooked river, hills in the distance...Industry areas, churches...

'Soviet era' is the term that best captures Ostrava's architecture in many places, including City Hall. (On the other hand, the Poruba neighborhood is an amazing and beautiful example of urban design with French influences.) The tower does give a good view of Ostrava and surroundings.

Perfect view of the city and its suburs. Not more than 30 minutes needed for this attraction, but its worth it. Rather consider the timing as a nice weather is needed to get the chance to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the was no guide at the time we were there, but ha a nice time up there.

One of the places you have to visit while staying in Ostrava. Also, the surroundings near New city Hall are very nice!

Definitely check out this one - you get a good feel for the city, including for how strikingly close to the city centre the former mines are, the artificial hills, and the rest of the surrounding land- and cityscape. There is a guide who comes up to the viewing platform every 30 minutes and answers any questions you may have. I hope they keep this service, because otherwise the signage is not terribly informative.

Just to share this great experience with you as stand above the city and look in all directions. We were accompanied by a very nice young lady from the tourist information office who brought the scenery to life with not only identifying places but also giving us a potted history of the area and sights. It wasn't expensive but is certainly a must see in this city.

One of the must-see atraction in Ostrava (after Dolní oblast Vítkovice and Landek Coal Mine). Nice view over town, mountains (Beskydy) and industrial parts of city (Vítkovice, Coal Mines etc.) There is also a information center with highly-educated staff in City Hall.

What can I say? 85 meters above the ground you can see the whole city, admission is so low, you may stop here several times. Definitevely yes.

Although you might not find Ostrava a romantic city, this view will just make your soul super happy. Mountains on side, football stadium on another, river whispering right under you, the city buzzing around... it is adorable! Ostrava is different from other cities and this view is the start point for a visitor to start liking it :) Go for it if you have even just one day in this region.

We had great weather. The view is outstanding. There is a representative from the town hall up the top happy to answer any questions about the city or Czech in General. Great place to see the surrounding regions

The view from the top was outstanding even though the day I went it wasn't very clear. One of the staff came up to the top and told me about the different things to see. It was also cheap, it has the distinction of being the tallest town hall spire in the Czech Republic

The New Town Hall is the largest town hall complex in the Czech Republic, located near river Ostravice. Built from 1925-30 and is characterized by an 85 m high tower with information center. Four bronze sculptures (3,2 m) by sculptor Václav Mach represent the four function of the town - mining, commerce, science and metallurgy. Sculpture Icarus (3,5 m) by sculptor František Štork. The tower offers a beautiful view of the city.

Try to be surpriced from views to Ostrava and surroundings, from combination of heavy industrial objetcs, green treetops, heaps in town and hills and mountains at horizont.

Wonderful Art Deco city hall, fantastic 360 degree views from the highest point in the city and an unbelievably informative and friendly guide, who refused to accept a tip - all for just CZK30 per person
