Very nice town in Czech Republic. Fine shoping in market square, from after 1800 age old town. Is very fine, if someone is going by way nearby.

There are some interesting exhibits like guns and old clocksNice section with natural history exhibits, birds, animals etcThere are very few english descriptions so its difficult tounderstand the history written. Cheap museum but nothing very special. Museum managers don't speak english which is a bigdisadvantage

All of the signs were only in Czech. Museum staff followed us around like we are criminals. Not organized in a logic pattern and lots of steps. We will not bother going again or recommending it to anyone

A strange museum. A staff memebr escorted us to the exhibit room and unlocked it for us. They lock everything, including the coat room.On the first fllor (2nd floor to North Americans) there were exhibits relating to the history of Ostrava, unfortunately everything was labeled in Czech only, it was not very interesting to us.It was easier to understand the exhibits on the upper floor, mainly an excellent collection of minerals from all over the world. All in all rather lame.

Visit is quite cheap and if you are interested in history it is worth of it. History is of course related to Ostrava but you can see there few intereting things - old books (bible), models, weapons and exposition related to mining.Big part of the museum is displaying nature and geology. And you can see there the only indoor astronomical clock in, at least, Czech Republic. There is a quite nice restaurant under the museum.
