veryinteresting location with enormous glaciers and very rough wildlife. Saw 2 km wide and ca. 25 m high glacier wit hblue ice, breaking off large ice pieces. Behind 750 suare kilomters of ice are pushing. there are sea birds and also polar bears. We were there with a cruise ship and had only 30 minutes on the gravel beach, since there are polar bears who might attack you. Had norwegian rangers with guns guarding us. Temperature in summer was 4 °C. What is amazing is the light and the sharp contures due to the clean air.

Anywhere else on earth, Magdalena Fjord would be stunning and even in Svalbard it is an outstandingly beautiful fjord which is over deepened at the end where there is the confluence of a number of really spectacular glaciers.What made it really special for us was just how close we could get to the ice fronts and how we could see the layer after layer of compressed blue ice... and massive ice caves down at sea level.Looking at the glaciers carefully we could see slight hints of colours... even greens... and we were astonished to learn that they were caused by microbes living in the ice.As we left... An entire heard of walruses breached in front of our boat and we watched for what seemed to be ages as they passed either side of the bows. Magdalenefjord is something really special.We definitely found that a close encounter with walrus in an isolate fjord surrounded by glaciers and with ice floating in the water at the ends of the earth... Really did it for us... We thought that it was a world-class experience. The only really down side is that... travel to the Fjord is very much weather dependant and is not guaranteed.Top tip; Don't expect too much... just let the place win you over by its magnificence.

This is the most spectacular fjord with its snow covered peaks and blue glaciers. My favourite of all.

This fjord is situated a half days boattrip north of Longyearbyen, Svalbard. Here you can see the glaziers and its blue ice. This wonderful little place also had a graveyard with about 300 graves of whalefishermen. The Norwegian police is guarding the graveyard every summer!If you are lucky you might see polar bears here!!

This fjord was listed in Lonely Planet's top 10 Norweigian fjords. I did not plan on going here whilst in Svalbard, as it's quite away from the main/only tourist town of Longyearbyn, but turns out it was a stop on my cruise with G Adventures. Honestly, ALL of Svalbard is breath-takingly pristine. Since this was later in our cruise, we had already seen a lot of Arctic fjords as well. So while this is 5 stars/EXCELLENT stand alone & in its own right, Magdalenefjord is just as beautiful as others in Svalbard. Just go to Svalbard! It was the best trip of my life!

Als eines der letzten grossen Kreuzfahrtschiffe genossen wir bei wunderbarem Wetter des arktischen Sommers diese atemberaubende Bucht. Im gleissenden Licht der 24 h scheinenden Sonne am blauen Himmel bot sich ein traumhafter Anblick in diesem kleinen Fjord, der früher Walfängern als Stützpunkt diente. Dieses Naturwunder soll geschützt werden vor Umweltschädigungen, darum können seit Mitte 2014 nur noch kleine Schiffe mit max. 200 Passagieren diesen wunderbaren Ort besuchen. Dafür verdient Die Verwaltung von Svalbard fünf Sterne.

Мы посетили Магдаленафьорд во время круиза по Шпицбергену. Пожалуй, именно это место оставило самое яркое впечатление. Невероятно красиво! Горы, снег, птицы, нам даже удалось увидеть плывущих тюленей. Виды завораживают, кажется, будто находишься на самом краю Земли.
