Very beautiful park with a restaurant and a nice lake with ducks and swans. The park is easy to access with a wheel chair and you can walk there in twenty minutes from the city center.

I absolutely love the new look of Ravnedalen. The cafe, the wonderful track through the forest edging up to the main park, the new Stage, all is great for day out or for attending one of many events held in this park.

We went there after seeing such raving reviews about it on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. It's well marked from the E18/E39 road (the main road in the south) so it's was relatively easy to find. We took a nice walk around the park and saw both the outdoor stage and the famous swan couple. We then walked up the stairs to the view point (the stairs look like something from the Lord of the Rings so it's quite adventurous!). It took us around 15 minutes to get to the top and it was so worth it! There are also some old trees that people have carved their initials to as a sign of love, can't miss that nice cliché! The restaurant in the park was closed when we visited, I'm guessing it's closed in fall- and wintertime, so I recommend bringing something to drink and some snacks!

Although Norway is just naturally beautiful and Kristiansand is an amazing town, the visit of the park suggested by a local was in deed a gift. Nature offers you its all. Trees, lakes, many kind of mushrooms, ferns and the magical colours of the fall. All that in a sunny day was just fantastic. The friendly cafe with very friendly owner is a plus. You can eat or simply have a drink. We had. pic nick there and a very long hike and it was a wonderful day

Took a romantic strole with three other brothers of course BARE FOOT. Although raining the cold wet and textured soil surrounded the intricacies of our feet filling the qroup with uncompromising joy. The first morale boosting moment of our holiday this is something we will never forget.

One of us wanted to move here and live in the park. The dark pond and steep mountainsides becomes impressive along with the neat flowers and bushes, the Generalen Café look like a dolls house at a distance.

Very nice park. I can recommend walking there through Bane Heia. It's got a concert place and a small restaurant with waffles. Very nice walk if you have some hours to spend.

This park is so beautiful! It has a big pond with several swanes in it, blooming flowers and fruit trees and a cozy restaurant right in the middle of everything. In the spring and summer there are conserts in the park. If you just want some quiet time in beautiful surroundings, or hear some good music while you're there - it's perfect anyway!

A really beautiful and scenic park. It's quite small so after strolling through it once, taking a break on a bench it's not much more to it.

Ravnedalen is around the corner from my friends house so one morning we had a little wander through the park and then onto Baneheia before descending into the city. There is a shallow duck/mill pond and a nice little cafe called the General which serves great food at the weekend. There is a nice sheltered outside area with a large fireplace. If you have a little bit of extra-time in Kristiansand then a wander up the clear paths is a must. In the summer there are often music events on a newly installed "bandstand"

This place is just amazing! We went there for a festival called "Ravnefest" in june/july 2013, and we had never been there before. We asked some people in the city where it was, and the first thing they said was "Ohhh, that is a beautiful place, you will love it there"! We talked to maybe 4 or 5 persons who all said the same thing. I recon the inhabitans of Kristiansand is very proud of this place. The park was original a military camp for 1200 soldiers, back in the 1860's. A famous general suggested that the City would make a nature park here, instead of a planned shooting range. In the 1870's it became a reality, and the General used his soldiers to build the park. For that effort the City made a statue of him in the park. He's name was Joseph F.O. Wergeland, brother of famous author Henrik Wergeland and Camilla Collett, which has a central position in Norway's history. The park is perfect for conserts. It gives a great sound because of the mountain wall surrounding the area, and it also gives a fantastic intime athmosphere. Go to Ravnedalen even if it's not a concert there. It's beautiful and a walk around the water will give you peace in mind and soul.
