My wife and I stopped in while driving north from Venezia. We've visited many zoos in the US and this one was pretty good. Very clean and well laid out. We were there on a weekday so it wasn't crowded. The baby goats were cool and we hadn't seen giraffes in a zoo for awhile either. The most unusual creature was a bird just hanging out. It wasn't part of the exhibit, just a native species we hadn't seen before. The gift shop was nice and the staff very helpful. The language barrier wasn't a problem, but by then we had figured out some basic Italian.

Lots of nature and green, with lots of interesting exhibits. Nice for small children who can feed the goats and sheep in the petting zoo. We were impressed with the larger animal exhibits, tigers, lions, and rhinos. We missed an elephant, but you can't have it all! Good inclement weather activity when it is too windy/chilly for the beach, but very little protection from rain, so not suitable for rainy days.

nice animals, like the fact that it had their private space, non invasive , but small zoo for the ticket price

Went there on a just-to-brutal-hot day to take a break from the beach. Very nice zoo. You can get really close to some animals. Good fr small kids, they have a petting zoo and you can feed some animals with food from vending machines. I recommend 2-3 hrs minimum. Was not crowed but this may change in the main-season. If you stay in Lignano, just take a bike to the Zoo. Easier than driving with car.

Lovely zoo, very close to the hotel where we stayed. All you want to see in a zoo is there. Not always the cleanest, and i would not suggest eating there. Our kids had fun :-)

The zoo is really beautiful - the foliage is very diversed, the exhibits inventive and interesting. There is a lot of attractions for kids, including big playground placed strategically in the middle of the sightseeing route ;) The zoo park is a very nice place for an afternoon walk. The variety of animals is admirable. There were possibilities of interacting with some animals, my kids had great fun feeding the goats. The bar was unfortunately closed (we visited in September), which was quite disappointing. The souvenir shop, however, was open - and supplied with wide choice of "wildlife" mascots. One of the nicest places we visited in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.

I was surprised at the variety of animals and quality of the zoo, since it is not in an area/region with large populations. All the animals were out walking and the I liked the many different types of plant life that decorated the area. As expected some animals were hiding/sleeping, but the exhibits are not too large to keep most of them hidden. This is one of the few zoos where I was able to look at the animals only inches away. You also have the option to feed goats, deer, and koi fish. We even fed leaves to the ostriches! I recommend going outside of the busy beach season. I went on a Saturday in October and it felt like the entire zoo was reserved for us. No loud kids and no people crowding around the exhibits, just a very serene environment with the animals. It is closed during the winter months.

Zoo is not very big, but it's really a lot of animals, and the park itself is very nice. Animals are exposed in a very interesting way, for example, the monkeys are on the island, also have plenty of room to run. I really recommend it.

Pretty little Zoo, very close to our resort (2 minutes by car). They had quite a number of animals and overall it is a decent Zoo.

The park was clean and the food was good inside the park, but the animal selection is quite small. It is also difficult to see a lot of the animals because of the built in environment, which is good for the animals. It just would have been nice to see more.

It is great for the kids and parents too. It is not as big as a small child couldn't walk around, and big enough to spend a half day here. Quite lots of animals can be seen.

Easy to follow due to the signs displayed "Follow Me!" Great locations to feed animals however the fish didn't seem to eat the food that was provided to all patrons to feed them. On the negative -- we didn't see any Zoo Keepers around to prevent curious folks from bothering animals and the cafe's had so-so food available.

If you are spending a vacation period in one of the surrounding beaches in North Adriatic see (Lignano or Bibione) and you have kids, this zoo is a very nice half-day diversion from the beach, especially advisable if the weather is not good enough to spend the day on the sand. The good:- the zoo is really extremely well maintained and clean, full of greenery and pleasant to walk -in as a trip in a big garden- it seems that there is the utmost respect for the animals. None of those sad, prison-like bars that you see in some zoos. There is a great effort in re-creating the animal habitat. This could turn in a disadvantange, as with so much greenery and protection for the animals, some of them become not visible at all.- the collection of animals is quite large and covers species from all over the world. There are very interesting panels explaining details of the animals you are visiting. - there are here and there games and plays for the little onesThe not-so-good:- the location is a bit far from the vacation cities (5 km from Lignano, for example) so, if you don't have a car it might take some time to reach by bus. On the contrary, coming by car is very convenient as there is a large free parking lot just at the entrance.- the entrance price is little bit expensive for adults- as said, the attention to re-create the animal natural habitat, results in making them sometimes invisible. In our visit we just saw some of the most appealing animals (lions, black panther etc) from very far as you have to peep at them from small holes in the surrounding walls (I even doubt the kids really saw them) and some of them we did not see at all (tiger). But I guess this is the price to pay if you want to respect the animal livings. All in all a good half-day diversion from the beach for the kids of all ages.

It's the only zoo close to where I live so I went a couple times with family or school. It shows mostly any type of animals living in planet Earth, especially animals from hot and tropical landscapes: giraffes, lions, tigers, zebras, hippopotamus, monkeys.. A great place to go with kids, they can see real animals like they see them on books or on tv.
