Ermoupoli is a small city & our guest house was in the neighborhood, so I made it a mission to visit this museum, if they ever would open. The hours of operation were posted, but amazingly they seemed to open the museum for just enough time to stick a piece of paper saying that they were gone to the post office. When I finally caught 2 folks inside I entered & they saluted me as in surprise to see a visitor. Once inside I realized that basically everything was in Greek & neither one of the gentlemen spoke any English. So, I just made my contribution to the support fund & left (go instead to the industry museum).

This museum was very small and most of the information was only in Greek and thus we could not understand the significance of most of the artefacts. Free for EU students.

Try to get to this small museum left of the town hall building. Entrance €2.It contains many valuable objects nd statues from the Kastri archeological site north east of Syros and which is not open to the public. The person in charge is friendly and able to give you helpful explanations. The displays are clearly set out with explanations in both Greek and English. Several documents relating to the first team of archeologists on the site are also visible giving an idea of the impact the discovery had on the island.

This small, free museum found up a flight of steps to the left of the town hall, contains some interesting early cycladic figures and a friendly cat! It seems to open mid/ late morning at the moment.

I disliked the fact that it was too small. However, what I saw was very interesting and gives an overall idea to the visitor.

I reperti contenuti nel museo sono interessanti, certo è molto piccolo però merita di farci un giro.Inserirei un po' più di spiegazione dei reperti.
