Not too long to walk with two kids ( 6 and 8 years). There were few small crabs near the path, and our kids scared them :) Our kids were with Crocs but proper sandals / shoes would be better..The closer you get by car the better...

We visited on a late afternoon in October. The roundtrip walk (with a little scrambling en route to the last waterfall) took us an hour-and-a-bit, ending as darkness was falling. The season was too cool for a swim anyway, so we just enjoyed the greenery and the rushing water. We were completely alone in this little valley, until we met some lively young people as we were leaving. Well worth the stopover if you are on the Kalamata-Pylos road, from where it is well sign-posted.

We visited on a rainy day and sat in a car for a good half an hour reading books. After the rain stopped, we went to the waterfalls.what a spot!make sure you wear proper shoes, the stones could be a bit slippy.Great for swimming and exploring, easy to find!

Be prepared to walk to see all the beauty, for about 20 minutes, through a medium difficulty path. Small lakes, a waterfall and all kind of plants are around the area

Well worth the walk to the main falls, the water is the most unusual colour, almost mystical, the water is so cold it takes your breath away, but you feel so good after takings the plunge, the walk back up the hill is a killer, unless you are fit, but dont be put off, not to be missed

If you visit Kalamata or Messinia generally, you have to visit Polilimnio as well. Be sure you wear the right shoes because the rock-climbing is slippery. Also have with you water and a towel not only to sweep after the swimming in the lake but also tο repel the insects. Don't forget your camera. Magnificent waterfall!!

It certainly pays to get to Polylimnio if you are visiting Pylos and Kalamata. Have along the right shoes to avoid unpleasant surprises and walk safely out there. There are spots a bit dangerous to climb, but you can make it all right if you are a bit careful. The climb ends up in a lake with waterfalls. There are many people who jump in the water and swim, the water though is usually cold and there are all kinds of insects flying on a sunny day.It is up to how one feels. I would not swim out there anyway, but just visiting the spot it is worth it.Avoid if you can visiting it when there are crowds, only to experience the peace and tranquility of this tropical paradise.

as above - magical. Go early to avoid the crowds. Definitely swim. Some of the climbing at the end too difficult for young children.

This waterfall needs promotion. On the driveway there was only 1 sign that I accidentally started following and this attraction is within the top 3 of my visit (and I was driving through entire Greek mainland). It has two small lakes where you can swim (Extremely cold), but refreshing!

Check with the locals first as we are not sure that we did it all. We found it very tricky to climb the rocks and the water was good but not as amazing as we had hoped for

Go as early as possible, go swimming in the water and go all the way up if you can to see more of the waterfall. And pdont go hiking on slippers!

worth a visit but go early in the morning and wear walking shoes, make sure you take water as there is no where to buy any and its hot and dusty.

If you plan a trip to Messinia, don't forget to take your sneakers for a stop at Polylimnio. It's something like a gorge, difficult and sometimes dangerous to climb up and down, ending in a lake with waterfalls, where of course you can dive, if you are brave enough, since the water is very cold and various insects also swim in the lake. The nature is simply wonderful, exotic and green. You'd better have a bottle of water with you, you will need it on your way back.
