andelea benakopoulos olive mill

It has been a long passion of mine to travel and to look out for good food. As it happens in the month December in the villages of Peloponnese the olive oil milling is at its peak! I had the chance therefore to visit a few places to try the olive oil and at the top I can put at some distance the Benakopoulos Andelea Estate. Is a truly remarkable story of a family business around olive oil making. A hidden gem in the village of Parapuggi that truly goes beyond extra virgin olive oil. I would unreservedly recommend anyone who is lucky enough to be around to call and arrange a visit and if possible to buy as much of the olive gold they produce.

We got to this mill on our way from Tolo to Zakynthos to buy some good olive oil and we didn't regret it. You can taste the award winning olive oil and buy as much as you want, although they are focused on retailers and not the final clients. The only down is the location, not on the main road between large cities and pretty bad road (still, they said it was a second better one, but it looks like we missed it).
