Near Hallstatt, an almost must visit place in 5 fingers. Hikers would love to hike up till the top. Cable cars are convenient and many more places around to walk and explore. Snow sledging was available in the left over snow in summers. Paragliding is also a sporty thing to do from the peak with the spectacular views

After taking a long and somewhat expensive cable car to the top, you will be rewarded with amazing views around the mountain peaks and valley floors from all sides. A scant 15-20 minute walk down a well-groomed trail will bring you to the viewing platform. The platform itself stands over the edge and is not for the faint of heart, but views are wonderful summer and winter! The hike back takes longer (more uphill).

A good choice for the mountain walk and enjoy another view of Hallstattsee from the mountain. The trial is easy to assess, and the cable car systems are well designed.

You can walk all the way to five fingers by heading to Krippenburn and then walking from there to 5 fingers. Long days walk and quite tough but worth it for the view and beauty

After enjoying the scenic views riding the cable cars on the way up, there was a fair trek to reach the 5 finger viewing platforms. My advise is to take your time to absorb the beautiful changing scenery as you pace yourself slowly up & around the pathway towards your destination. Enroute we saw people enjoying a picnic.There were benches along the way strategically placed if you wanted to rest/take in the scenery. When you reach the 5 finger viewing platforms at over 2.000 m altitude, you are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. There is even a telescope on one of the viewing platforms to get an even closer look at the magnificent scenery & nearby glacier. Before returning to the cable car I stopped off for a rest at the Alpine Lodge for a delicious coffee/strudel enjoying the view with other tourists from the spacious balcony.

We went up on a fine day and every single peak and the glacier of the Dachstein range was visible. The walk to 5 fingers passing through Welterbespirale (a spiral staircase on the peak of Krippenstein at 2,100 metre) was not difficult as it is mostly flat, but comfortable shoes are still recommended. You don't have to worry about your fitness level for the walk as there are recliners to rest near Welterbespirale and benches along the way. We even saw people pushing strollers.You need to purchase two sections of the cable car. We combined it with the guided tour to ice cave at the top of section 1. It took us a whole day but you need the time to take lots of photos. Pay attention to the time of the last cable car down hill! It is usually very crowded.

A must do thing. Very nice place with wonderful views. Worth the effort and money. Some people where paragliding and it would be a very interesting experience how ever you should book it in advance. Also near five fingers there is Welterbespirale which worth a visit and Dachstein shark which is in opposite direction and nothing special. Take a warm cloth and winter boots and go there as yearly as possible. We were there in mid of September and there was a 10sm snow.

You must see it to believe the view! The short hike is worth the time. We also saw many people para-gliding off the mountain. A must see!

worth taking the time to go up, a bit tiring the walk but the view is breath taking. most important is to there on a clear day

It is a awesome place although it is a long and steep walk. It takes almost an hour and half to reach there from the ticket station down there. But looking It downward from the top is awesome. You won't forget and regret it.

the five finger were amazing.... the view from the top is awesome, the cable car ride was smooth, but there is a little bit of a walk at the top to get to the five finger...

A bit of a trek from the cable car station but well worth the effort, so may not be suitable for less able visitors. Clean dining facilities nearby with a good choice of food.Fantastic views of the valley and Obertaun, Hallstatt below.

Its nearly too good to realise what you are seeing, utterly fantastic and a very high altitude spot. if you travel here make sure you get entrance to the ice cave on the way up, (the mammoth caves are nothing special - and no mammoth) and be prepared for a half an hour walk to the five fingers from the top cable car station. But definitely a must do if you are n the region.
