The x-mayor of Nicosia Mr. Zambelas and his wife made a great gallery with their private collection of paintings during the years passed.We knew about it when our 4years old grandson visited the gallery with his private-school. Small children admired the paintings and then they used the workshops for their own paintings. It was a great experience for him and got so enthusiastic.The Art Museum and Gallery is located at Kaimakli, not far from old town, in a very modern building, has workshops, coffee-shop and a shop to buy gifts, has an entrance-fee and is really highly recommended.

This place was a positive surprise to us, as we had never heard of it.The private initiative - in times of clear Cypriot stress - is very very laudable, and the collection, maybe surprising, is interesting and worth to see.Strongly recommend

We became dedicated "fans" of the museum after my children ages 5 and 10 attended an origami workshop with some friends. Since then we have visited on several occasions, sometimes taking part in the children and family activities/workshops, sometimes just to visit the exhibit and on Valentines to attend the opening of a specially themed exhibit and jazz night. We love the place! It is small by any standard- it is after all a private collection- but the aura of the place is so positive, so inviting that you fall in love with it. As a private initiative it is amazing, very well done, with tremendous attention to detail. The old family house of the Zampela family was renovated with such care that it is worth it to visit just for the sake of the building. The artwork is a fine collection and it is easy to spend 2 hours or so just gazing at Cypriot and Greek art, amazed that such a small island can bear so many talented people. My kids also love the gift shop which, again, for a private initiative in Cyprus, it is quite inspiring to see how they managed to make even placemats so cool! Most definitely worth a visit with the family, especially on a rainy (or very hot) day without much to do in Nicosia.

Fantastic experience, with amazing pieces of arts (a mosaic of Cypriot Art) and wonderful workshops for solo or family visits!! Highly recommended!!
