Very cute little exhibit, with friendly and knowledgeable staff to answer any questions. The exhibit fee (very reasonable price, and free for children) and attached gift shop support the seal research that goes on at the center. Great place to stop on the ring road!

If you are looking for seals go there for the latest update on where to find them. Nice place in the small village Hvammstangi.

As we were just driving through the town of Hvammstangi, it was a nice place to interrupt the drive to Snaefelsness peninsula. The Seal Center gave me a very different view on seal hunting. The entrance fee was 950 ISK or 6 EUR, which seems very reasonable (especially in Iceland). Definitely worth a visit!

This review is not directly related with the exhibition on the Seal Center itself, because we had no opportunity to visit it. When we arrived to do the seal watching tour, we discovered that entrance to the center was included, but it closes at 4pm, so no way to visit it after the navigation. This negative review is because I consider them accomplices for selling the tickets to this huge scam called "Seal Watching Boat Tours" in their shop. Guys, you just can't sell tickets to that fraud in your shop... if you do so, you're also responsible for the bad experiences you're providing to costumers. The bad feedback of those tours is finally coming to you and affecting your center.

Dear Copperbottom27I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit to the Seal Center. It is true that the Exhibition is small but we take pride in providing vast information on Seals at the Coast of Iceland. We would of course like to do so much more but unfortunatly we haven't been able to due to limited funding to reasearch centers in Iceland. I am surprised in hearing that it was partially closed for work. There is no work going on at the Seal Center at the moment. Could you collaborate more on that? On the floor above the Seal Center there is work being done on a restaurant that should open shortly but that is a different company. Their construcion should not affect our visitors except for some noise from time to time because of drilling. If it did it would be good for me to know.Regarding your comment on our prices. Is there anything in particular that you are referring to just so that we can fix that. We are trying to have our prices similar to other shops but ofcourse we might have marked some things wrongly. So it sould be of great help to hear what it is in particular that you found overpriced.Thank you in advance for you response. It is highly appreciated and gives us an opportunity to do better in the future.Kind regardsUnnur selasetur@selasetur.is

We took our two children to the seal museum in Hvammstangi. It was enjoyable, informative and short, which is perfect for children. I read the information cards on the exhibits (stuffed seals and other marine life as well as tools/hunting equipment and boats etc) to them and they enjoyed watching the film which was playing on a loop. My youngest (7 years) also had fun colouring a seal image and having it displayed with others on a board. The staff were very friendly and willing to help.

We can see the seals on their habitat. The tent provided in the watching location is highly appreciable.

I love seals so this is the place for me. It's not huge, but what else could you really do in addition to what is there? You must combine this with the seal watching tour. We also got to see a juvenile humpback whale on our seal tour.

The exhibit is a single room with various stuffed animals and posted information. There is a room with a somewhat strange meandering documentary.

Although the exhibition is rather small, it gives you a good base of information about the Icelandic seals. You learn about their habits, and the different kinds of seals you can spot. You should visit the Seal Center before going to the different seal-watching spots.A remark for the Seal Center : a little more information could be given about the role of the center in protecting the seals. I am also very curious about the results from the running researhces (like the effect of the seal-watching tourists on the behaviour of the seals).

We visited this museum as a stop on the one of the longer stretches of the Ring Road. The museum was very nicely built, the information was nicely presented, and there were activities for everyone (including coloring pages for kids...).

A small and inviting place with nice and charming staff. Everything on display is explained in icelandic, german and english. Worth while a visit as is the seal-watching trip on the boat. Hot chocolate, cookies and binokulars provided by the helpful crew.

We spent some time in the Seal Center before taking our seal-watching boat tour. The museum is small-- just a few rooms, but there is a lot to read and learn. What we enjoyed most of all was the movie room. A one-hour movie about Icelandic seals plays each hour, and I was grateful to learn more about them before the boat tour. The museum lobby had wifi, some snacks for sale, and souvenirs. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We went on the seal watching tour so the entrance to the museum was included. It is small but full of information about the different kinds of seals. There is a short film as well so it was a good prelude to the boat tour. This was also good with binoculars provided and the guide answered all our questions.
