Even if the casstle is small and the museum even smaller, the terasse of the bar has a great view of the city. From the top tower the view is even better. Great spring/summer coffee place

The owner of the apartment where we stayed in Rijeka recommended that we should visit Trsat and we were glad he did. The 538 stairs could be a bit of a challenge, depending on your fitness level, but the view at the top was stunning. We arrived just in time for sunset and had a drink in the nice wee cafe bar before heading back down. At night the stairs are well lit so we had no problems. It was late on a Feb evening so obviously the shop and interior of the castle were closed, but it was definitely still a good activity as we only had one night to spend in Rijeka.

We visited in late October, when the ticket booth was not manned any more and the exhibition was closed, but then you're free to walk around the ruins and enjoy the great view of the city, Definitely worth a visit!

The Trsat Castle is definitely a must-see during a visit to Rijeka. The castle itself is interesting, with some corridors and towers to explore, there is a gift shop, cafe, and if you are lucky, sometimes there are events organised. Other than that, the castle has a beautiful view of Rijeka, you can see the entire city as well as the whole bay.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrsatThe Church of Our Lady is located on Trsat, a 135 meter high hill. Great church with great history. Some cute little coffee shops around.Just across the street there is a way to access the Francopan Castle with magnificient view of the city of Rijeka, and a feeling, scent of history. Also a small museum there worth visiting and stroll around the walls.Nearby old church of St.Georg

We took the bus up to the castle and really enjoyed being able to visit these ruins since so much of it was still standing. They have taken good care of the building and even opened a little restaurant/giftshop at the location. Beautiful views over the city and ocean.

This is not a huge castle, but a genuine one. The walk up and nearby churches make it well worth it. The views are fantastic.

It's a hike up from downtown. Stairs take you right up to the castle. I liked the hike and went up three different times to get different views. It was worth the effort. They have a cafe in the castle and good for a drink before you head back.

Charming, with a soul and a story. This place is part of the story of the main monument located near sanctuary ofMother of God of Trsat. This place gives you the opportunity to feel the soul of the Kvarner small towns and squares. That spirit will guide you and keep track of the entrance to the castle in his backyard užiavajte in touch with history and nature.Poništi uređivanja

Scenic castle with fantastic views and a cocktail available within the surrounding. Be prepared for some serious steps which could be signposted better. We visited 3 houses by mistake looking for the castle and upset many a dog in the process. But on the whole worth the walk for the views and the castle.

In the time before the Illyrians there was a fortified settlement, and then the Illyrian (japodian) fortress Tarsatica. Following this there was a Roman looking point, and from the 13th century it was the property of the Counts of Krk. Later it belonged to the Frankopans. Together with Vinodol, the Croatian-Hungarian King Andrija II presented Trsat to Vid II of Krk.
