The Vratsa Balkan Nature Reserve is an amzing place for tourists who love hiking, mountaineering, skiing or just to spend some time out with friends. During the months of May and June, there are more than 170 waterfalls in the park, and 17 are active during the entire year. The Skaklya Falls, some 10 km north of the city Svoge, are the highest seasonal falls in Bulgaria at 141 meters.Near the Cart Rails is the Rashov Ravine, a place of historical importance associated with the 1876 April Uprising against the Ottoman rulers. There are 16 tourist routes in the Vratsa Balkans Nature Park, traversing a variety of landscapes and natural landmarks. Yes you can enjoy fully there doing so many things - just visit it.

Outside Vratsa and up through a gorge which is spectacular. There are many walking trails although length and difficulty is not available. Full of wildlife and some beautiful flowers. The lower parts near the rivers are popular with locals who picnic and sit in the river on hot days.

We have visited the area several times, latest at the beginning of May 2013 for a holiday of 5 days. I was very surprised Trip advisor knows about this place, as I did not think it was popular. This is a mountain area just above Vratsa with amazing beauty and you can find many beautiful places if you walk around the area. This place is so quiet and peaceful, the air crystal clean. At the beggining of this May there was August heat. Very relaxing place. A drawback is probably the road which is not well maintained. The food in the restaurant we were in was very good, esp the roasted lamb local style.
