Daniel the owner has a very nice place setup here. A rustic but beautiful golf course in about 100 hectares of rainforest, where you can do plenty of other things. We went horseriding around the forest. Horseriding really allows you to pay more attention to the rainforest since the horse is watching his footing so you don't have to. Also the angle is quite different from the back of a horse. Due to the many forest edges there is plenty of opportunity to watch birds and the guide Rommel knows a lot about the forest. There are a lot of horses, ranging from spirited horses which are a challenge to experienced horse riders to really docile horses for kids which will just follow the leader. We had something a little in between as we don't have a lot of experience horseriding. Daniel is also a really nice guy to talk with, as he has a lot of knowledge on nature conservation, geology and politics in Rurrenabaque. We had a great half day at Chocolatal.

Disc golf - to use the official name - is really great fun. If you haven't had a go then you really must, especially if you are a group in Rurre and have a spare half day. The game is played like for normal golf except you are throwing discs into baskets. We didn't keep score and probably just as well since it was a little breezy and my discs flew everywhere. The course has obstacles like large palms and trees and sometimes you can't see where the basket is so have to throw and hope for the best so it's not always a piece of cake but that adds to the fun! It's something more or less anyone can do, age is no barrier. And of course at Chocolatal you have the added attraction of being able to enjoy seeing birds and butterflies and other wildlife. We were lucky and saw some beautiful macaws and toucans as well as those huge blue and black butterflies. An enjoyable half day which I recommend.

Such a beautiful place! It was so nice to ride in and out of the jungle on such well kept and well behaved horses. One moment you're in the cool shade of the big jungle trees then you're out in to the sun looking for toucans and back into jungle to look at more plants. Perfect way to spend half a day

I had never ridden a horse before so was a little nervous but the one I was given was very quiet and I really didn't need to think about what to do. We jogged along lovely forest tracks and could really enjoy the trees and other plants, their scents, colours, shapes and the way the light plays on the leaves. Then you would come out into the open for a while and see lots of butterflies flitting along the forest edge. We saw a couple of animals and toucans and wild turkeys, which was a bonus. The owners have really thought about the way this property works and are incorporating the ecology into their business which is great. The golf & frisbee courses are about as natural as one could be, with native trees around and the greens look like they have native grasses and don't appear "over green". I really enjoyed my morning. It was different to the other things on offer in Rurrenabaque but complementary to them. The only downside was the mosquitos are ferocious and bit my ankles right through my socks so if you go wear boots or really thick socks!

Beautiful place for horsebackriding, frisbee and golf. Nice forest arround and a creek. Close to town, perfect for a half day or one day activity.

I did a half day horse ride at el chocolatal. A great way to see the scenery of the area from higher up than on foot or in a jeep and less effort than walking too. A lovely scottish lady took us out on well kept and well behaved horses. I'd recommend it.

This was a really fun morning. The horses were lovely to ride, quiet but obedient just what you want for a mixed group and obviously well looked after. We had a really nice walk through cool jungle trails, it was very beautiful. Later we saw where one neighbour was cattle farming and others were raising crops. Then because there were two guides some of us could continue calmly walk with one guide and we got a nice canter down the fairways with the other guide. Of course after the canter the others told us how they had seen toucans and Macaws. We must have flushed them out for the others to see. The best ride in South America yet!
