Stunning scenery from lake Esmarelda of the volcano, you can take a boat ride for about an hour around the lake and see more of the area. Snow covered all the year round makes it very picturesque. The drive from Puerto Mont too was all about the views, worth a stop at Petrohue falls on the way, the river you can see from the road side as you drive.

This is a classic perfect snow capped volcano. I took picture after picture and still not get enough different shots. We got up close and personal to the base of the ski lift. The snack bar up there seved delicious and reasonably priced empanadas.

This is one great way to admire the scenery whilst particpating in a superb activity! We'd rafted many years ago in Turkey, and had had so much fun, but now 63 and 65, my wife and I were rather apprehensive. However, as this was our first port of call on a cruise of South America out of Valparaiso, we just couldn't resist the Petrohue River.Boy, are we glad we couldn't!ALSURexpediciones from Puerto Varas, picked us up from the port in a beaten-up estate car, and Colyn took us to the company base to change into our wetsuits and boots, collect our rib and three other staff, and off the 6 of us went in an equally utilitarian van, towing the rib to the start of the course. We were the only two on the trip, so had the full attention of all 4 staff. One was to be our rib captain, another in a safety kayak, a further one as a photographer, whilst the fourth drove and then made her way to the end of the course to prepare a snack lunch for later. After a safety briefing, off we went. We were steered through some relatively small rapids at first (I think our competence was being checked out!) but before long on the 2-hour course we were paddling and being steered through what for us were extrmeley powerful flows - often where the water was over our heads. The enjoyment and breathtaking scenery throughout the experience was beyond description, and the journey made the snack and Pisco Sour at the end of the trip taste even more delicious. We then retraced our steps back to Puerto Montt.Despite its basic exterior, the ALSUR team are highly professional, with safety being paramount.I cannot recommend this activity highly enoughAconcagua esq Imperial, Pto Varas, Chilealsurexpediciones@gmail.com98718827 cel Phonewww.alsurexpeditions.com

A very nice landscape you could see from many points. It is possible to take a bus tour or a boat tour through the lakes.

One of the most beautiful sceneries I have ever seen. Well worth a visit . Drive up the mountain, then take the cable car. Beware of the cold up there.

If you're in the area, definitely go here! It's beautiful & offers amazing views of the surroundings! My advice is to don't take the chair lift at the top as it's a complete rip off! Instead follow the hour long trail on the volcano! Really cool!

What great fun gliding up chairlifts to go from 4000 ft. (ski lodge level) to 6000 ft. ( super-gorgeous view level). This was the highpoint of our 2-week tour of the Chilean Lake District. Simply magical.

We were so lucky to have great weather the day we saw the volcano. The sun was shining and it was warm on the valley floor. However, that quickly changed at the top. We were taken to the observation station/ski area, which is really high up on the side of the volcano. We then paid extra to go up the chair lift even higher on the volcano. We were not far from the snow line. It was VERY windy and cold that high up. Be prepared for that. However, it was so worth the trip. The view was amazing. We were far above the clouds, which gave it a magical feel. The view of the lake at the base of the volcano was impressive. We were so glad we took this trip.

It was a beautiful day. Drove up to the ski area on the volcano Osono. Great views of the lake and mountains. Two more volcanos in view. Well worth the drive.

Not fair I guess but this can be a problem if it is overcast. We never saw the summit as it was too cloudy so we will have to see it next time.

There are no words to describe the stunning view of the lake, mountains and cities. Chairlift to the top of the ski station and back costs 14,000 CLP. Definitely worth it. To get there you have to take a very beautiful road in Parque Vicente Perez Rosales.

We spend a day touring around Puerto Montt, visiting Puerto Varas, the National Park and of course, the volcano. When the weather cooperates, you can be treated to some amazing views. The lift that takes you up a bit higher was pleasant and felt safe, even for those who fear heights!(my wife).

What a gem! With the breathtaking view and the 30 min ride on the ski lift all the way to the top, this is an experience of a life time! You can get there via tour buses or with rental car. It is a MUST see if you are in the area.

We arrived to Puerto Montt via cruise ship and rented a car to see all the sights without all the crowds. It was a perfect day and a beautiful drive to Volcan Osorno as long as you stay way ahead or way behind the cruise ship buses. Easy driving, well marked roads, inexpensive tolls that must be paid with Chilean pesos. We visited the other small town and cities in the region and had a great time. Wonderful views all along the drive to Volcan Osorno. Zip line available at turn-off by chairlifts and cafeteria (horrible food!) so take a picnic lunch and enjoy.

Easy drive with not too many hairpins. Lots of stopping places en route to the ski station at 1600m. Wonderful panoramic views. Free parking. Passable food at cafetetia. Chairlift operates in summer months.
