I have been to Tonsupa a few times now and I find it relatively peaceful and quiet, except perhaps at Carnival and Christmas time. The immediate surrounding area of the malecon seems quite safe. |The surf is from average to low....so it is not necessarily a surfers' paradise, but it is not bad for swimming and a bit of body surfing. The sand is goldenThe restaurants are basic on the malecon, but with a little bit of searching and asking the motociclo drivers one can find a few pretty good places. For pizza, the Torresol restaurant is not bad.One still has to be careful of thieves, however, that seems a common problem at most tourist area in the world. It's not bad for families, as mentioned it is much quieter than other areas, i.e. Atacames or Esmeraldas. A common problem in this area is that local people don't see garbage

Tonsupa is known for his tall buildings, and that's your view from the beach, if you are not looking at the ocean ..

This a laid back location. Fair beaches. Typical Pacific Coast beaches you can see from British Columbia, Canada anywhere down the Mexican mainland Coast and Ecuador. Not beautiful but basic. Not great shopping. Limited services. Typical of a poor beach town. It looks like a lot of companies/corporations have invested money in the tourists coming. Not much invested by government in tourism though. Very pot holed dirt streets to get to multi-million dollar high rise hotel. Appears that people have invested heavily in the concept of the new highway bring lots more tourists. They are yet to come and many hotels look like they are operating on a skeleton crew to keep going. Mexico has done a better job of developing tourist areas with a tourism board FONATUR developing the infrastructure in preparation for multi-million dollar developments. This area has been done the opposite way around.

This beach is pretty, the sunsets are nice. Are the hotels by the beach guarded-NO! Are there police on the beach to protect people-NO! I got robbed while with another American, but we were with 2 Ecuadorians, one was a big guy. I got chased with a knife. I do not suggest going here. Value your life more.

I went to Tonsupa with friends and its a beautiful one. It was not crowded but the waves are little bit intense. We had a good cloudy weather and went for a long walk to the righ side of the beach. There are many bars and restuarants on the shore of the beach. Also many sea side hotels are there.

It was little rain/drizzle when I was there but I went out on the beach and walk for couple hours. I met no more that dozen people on beach. Sea was quite calm that day with gentle waves.There are a few good places to eat on the north side of beach. I had "Corvina ala plancha". Fish was absolutely fresh and very well prepared ... yummy!

I went to Tonsupa with a group of friends and the beach was beautiful. It was in March, so the beach was not crowded at all, but the waves were pretty intense. We had an excellent time, until a rip current carried a few of us too far out. We all made it back safely, but it is worth mentioning that it can get kind of dangerous in the ocean, so be careful. The restaurants by the beach are great as well.

Away enough from the crowded Atacames, gives this beach kind of charm, because is clean and have all services. Do not have those anoying vendors asking every minute something, but you find everything. I liked a lot.

Este lugar ha tenido un avance realmente impresionante, los edificios de mas de 17 pisos se alzan sobre la playa y sus alrededores, en verdad es un paisaje impresionante, se como y se disfruta de un ambiente agradable, no se olviden de llevar bastante money...jajajaja

Las playas ecuatorianas son realmente increíbles, me he relajado y disfrutado de un clima delicioso y la gastronomía ni se diga, realmente estoy muy satisfecha de las maravillas que posee el Ecuador.

La playa es linda, el mar tranquilo, el clima demasiado caluroso para mi gusto. La playa es pequeña, estrecha, llena de gente, comercios, restaurantes improvisados y otros, lo que hace difícil el disfrutar con paz y tranquilidad del lugar.

Se puede rescatar la belleza de la playa cuando no es feriado. Mejor ir entre semana. Un lindo lugar para descansar y disfrutar de deliciosos mariscos frente al mar. Se puede aprovechar con mascotas para que corran por la playa en temporada baja.

Esta playa es la primera a la que se puede ingresar cuando se está llegando al cantón atacames. Es un pequeño pueblo de gran plusvalía, en estos últimos años ha incrementado la cantidad de hoteles y edificios, es un Miami pequeño. Gran lugar para ir en familia a relajarse.

Si estas en Quito y no tienes mucho tiempo para ir a la playa pues Tonsupa es la mejor opción por la variedad de hoteles y la chevere playa y lugares cercanos para fiesta.

Grandes edificios dibujan un paisaje elegante y el mar acompaña adornando con sus olas. Se puede disfrutar del confort con una hermosa vista de la playa al nuestros pies. Un excelente lugar para descansar el fin de semana.
