Terrific thrombolites -in a tranquil setting. I had seen these on a travel programme and was thrilled to be able to see them in the "flesh". To me they were magic and amazing and their role in the creation of life was awe inspiring. Take pictures since others may no believe what you have seen. Also so interesting bird life around.

A short Boardwalk. Saw so many birds, and lots of black swans. We went very early, so had the place to ourselves. The thrombolites are ordinary, however their history sure is not. Loved it.

We came across the thrombolites while out on a day adventure. The lake is very nice however you cannot swim or fish there. The thrombolites look like rocks. Along the jetty and near the carpark/bathrooms there are information signs that explain about the area and the history of the thrombolites. There is also a 5km trail walk which we will return to do after snake season. Although the thrombolites are not that exciting, the lake is a beautiful sight. Also there is a lovely winery just up the road.

We were in the area so decided to check it out. Nice Lake, shame you cannot swim in it due to the Thrombolites.Thrombolite itself was just average, would be the same if I watched it from TV or internet.

Found this on the net before our visit to WA and decided to go and see them on Xmas morning. Short drive from Mandurah and oh what a magnificent site to see. Make sure you read all about the Thrombolites, they are amazing to see, we will return in winter when they will look different again with more fresh water in the lake.
