This place used to be great (Prince Charles himself opened it in the 70s) but since the research centre closed in 2009 and the national trust took over.. all the farm animals apart from 2 horses are gone.. the amenities have been left to rot, bbq dont work. The only saving grace for this place is the machinery shed.. a great collection of tractors.. and you pay by donation .. also the sole staff member is very friendly .. I am not sure if it's worth driving out here in it's current state though, hopefully they can bring the animal's back... but I think they may end up closing the place which would be a pity

Keep on visiting this heritage farm to ensure we keep it listed. Such an important slice of history not to be lost. The huge full machinery shed is an absolute must see for anyone interested in tinkering in the machinery field. On the day of the Beverley Harvest Festival 2012 the Clydesdale horses were in full regalia and a sight to see. Then along came the Light Horse soldier in full dress kit astride his horse, reminded me so much of my grandfather and what he would have looked like in his day. Then on to the young riders completing world class tricks on their horses. The ladies were busy with devonshire teas and handcrafts of olden days eg, corn dollies, quilting and more. We stayed in the small but excellent caravan park in Beverley and took the short drive to Avondale farm.

This annual event is a real treat for the city kids. You can experience a real taste of the country and it's history at this event with sheep dog trails, horse and wagon rides, old tractor rides, blacksmiths, wood choppers, market stalls and lots more.November 25th this year.

they have a huge 'shed', in fact maybe it is called a warehouse, anyway it is full of old farm machinery, old tractors and classic cars and trucks. Even those that are not into that sort of thing would have to be very cynical if they are not Impressed with this collection.Entry is free...with donation only. There is an old homestead, playground, BBQ area, old stables that are fascinating and a couple of beautiful Clydesdale horses. The scenic drive through and beyond is all very worthwhile.Apparently there is a festival day in late Oct or Nov, I am betting the place will co e alive. We are considering returning for the weekend as I think it would be a lot of fun...look it up.

This is a fantastic experience. I took my granddaughter who absolutely loved it. My husband tells her made up stories of Uncle Boyce's farm and we told her we were going to the farm which added more excitement to the visit. On this particular day you could touch the horses and animals, eat and drink at reasonable prices, watch the shearing as it is a working farm, shop at gift stalls, free bus to tour the farm with plenty of history and plenty to view such as vintage cars and equipment and horse rides. We even had scones, jam and cream with Aunty Edna and my granddaughter thought it just marvellous. A great day out
