Whroo is one of those off the beaten track locations that must not be missed if you are in the area.It is an old gold mining town near Nagambie that has the old church still standing which now is a rangers office. In its heyday several hundred people lived and worked there and the history is told at the ranger station. The remains of the Balaclava open cut gold mine is evident and in its heyday it really was a goldmine .If coming from Nagambie you cross the historic wooden bridge which is a great photo opportunityit itself ,bu tfrom there it is a dirt road which can be slippery if raining. You can get there from Rochester as well.Dont rely on your gps.Several walks are available but beware of snakes in the summer. Picnic facilities available.
