Several years ago we visited Glenrowan to have a look at the location of Ned Kelly's last stand. Interesting walk through history to see how things unfolded for the Kelly gang. There is a small museum there which is interesting but a word of warning, the room fills with smoke during the display to represent the fire at the hotel and it is not a place for asthmatics. We took our freinds back last year but it was raining so we couldn't get out and see most of it.A must if you are interested in Australian history.

The map of the area is all easy walking access, well marked and worth seeing, nice parklands for those needing a break from travelling & to let kids run around.

This is one of the funniest places I have seen in a long while! My daughter (who is a history major) and I laughed our way through Glenrowan. The 'Kelly homestead' is actually a 'replica' which they didn't tell us until we had paid our money. The house itself is a very accurate reproduction of an old slab hut but it is honestly the filthiest place I have ever been inside - I found this disappointing - someone needs to spend a few days in there cleaning it up - it's a shame! The town itself is cute and it was quite fun following the map to all the actual historic sites. I'm not a fan of glorifying criminals and they haven't done that when you read the stories on the historic sites.Thousands of overpriced cheap souvenirs like stuffed toys of Ned Kelly - too funny.Well worth the 1km detour off the highway - even if just for the humor value!

This is another historic site to visit, as part of "Ned Kelly" touring route.The Railway Reserve and Ann Jones’ Inn siege site is located just across the rail line.The Blacksmith Shop is also in the area and a gold coin donation for entry.There is a replica of the station building and wooden pole people, which represents the places and where people were standing during the siege. A signs and a number of plaques, indicate the station site, master's house, police statioin and where Ned Kelly was shot and captured.

Glenrowan is a real step back in time and all the information sites and maps etc showing who, what, where and how... my sons and I spent half the day here and it was just such an eye opener. A very worthwhile, touristy, interesting place to come and learn new things about life in Glenrowan in Ned Kelly's time.

Little hard to find although pull up in the centre of Glenrowan and you will find it no problems (not well signed). There is good van parking beside and behind the Glenrowan Tourist Centre (the Siege Site path is free self guided walk just across the rail line). The actual Siege Site funny enough is accessed from Siege Street across the rail line. There are pointers with numbers that point you to the different locations and the whole circuit only takes an easy 10 minute walk and is reasonably flat (from memory Ned was captured at location number 4). There is a small Blacksmith shop near the site and worth the gold coin entry fee to have a chat to the owner and see some armour examples.

How many things in life are free??!! Here's one that is full of information about Australian history.. Worth stopping to read the information boards...and see the site where Ned Kelly was shot and captured.

This is very basic but at the same time it does what it's meant too. It's informative and the kids got excited learning about it. It's free too even though it only takes 10mins it is very informative.

Someone needs to grab this place and make it into an educational and honest part of Australia's history. Instead you can have a Ned Kelly Hamburger, a beer at the Ned Kelly Bar and buy a Ned Kelly T Shirt. Most visitors I saw stopped and had a photo taken with a large Ned Kelly statue before getting back in their car and leaving. With the right approach however, this place could be so much more as it is only a short stop from the Hume Hwy. The local council should have a look at Jerilderie and a take a leaf out of their book.
