We met with David Blacket who (I think) is the owner of the vineyard, and he conducted my wife's wine-tasting (me? Driving!).David was very knowledgable about wine in particular and life in general and it was a pleasure talking to him. My wife tried five or six products, (red, white, rose, port, liqueur), and we ended up buying three bottles - there was no pressure to buy as David seemed genuinely to enjoy playing the host.On the drive out, we spotted our first kangaroo (after ten days in Australia) roaming around the vines. Nice way to finish the visit!

Beautiful wine and excellent country hospitality. The owner even took the family to the Vineyard and cut us some tasty grapes... a must do if you are in the area.

Wanted somewhere for lunch, and just followed the signs about 3 kms out of town. Had a Ploughman's lunch, followed by scones. Very good, with very friendly service from the 2 ladies running it. Wine tasting is free, and prices are quite reasonable.

We visited with friends in July and were greeted by the owner, David, who made a point of introducing us to others nearby before we sampled a selection of wines and ports which were quite enjoyable (along with the lunch platter we then had while sitting in the lovely grassed area outside). We purchased some of the wines and also some chutneys which were made from the grapes on the property before heading off on our next stop. It was a relaxing stay on a beautiful sunny day.

Visited on cool July weekend and had the most pleasant of afternoons. Less than five minutes from town. Host David remembered we had sent email and we received a lovely welcome. Was no need to send as the place was open on Saturday and buzzing along beautifully. We tasted the wines and the ports and were pleasantly surprised at the quality. We all found one or two varieties that we enjoyed and purchased a small sampling with a jar of the grape chutney.Afterwards we enjoyed Ploughmans lunch and cheese platters on the lawn with quite a few other people. In short a wonderful afternoon and not to be missed if visiting St George.

Quick over night stay in St George and stopped in to try some wines. Great setting, nice gardens. Rosey was our host, she made us right at home, she's the kind of person you can sit and chat with for hours, want to hug before you leave, she adorable and an brilliant artist (painter). The wine was great very drinkable. Highly recommend checking this winery out.

Riversands was recommended to us for a visit by the delightful Rosie at St George Tourist Information Centre .... we were given free coffee vouchers. Kate was our hostess and we arrived quite early in the morning - after tasting a couple of wines, we sat outside in the cool garden area browsing through the photos of the 2012 floods and enjoyed our plunger coffee and huge scones. Purchased some wine too! Worth a visit

KarenI am not sure if you received my earlier response to your review, but if not I wanted to thank you for taking the time to submit your review. I am pleased you enjoyed the wine and our garden setting. With respect to the food could you let us know what you were expecting? There are some things we can act on and others not! Thanks to your feedback, we will check with customers first on how they like their coffee. We can make it stronger if required. Others find it too strong and want it weaker, so we can include some hot water! And I will see if our scone lady can lighten up the scones a bit! Thanks again and do hope you return one day. David.

We arrived at 9:30am too early? No, Joe the very amiable bar attendant assured it was not too early to start tasting!! Three whites, three reds Muscats and Ports means there is a wine for every palate. After our wine tasting we retired to the lawn and had a delicious coffee and scones, jam and cream.

Joe was very friendly and informative, the Merlot is lovely, not too bitey with a smokey after taste. The port is sweet and as easy to drink as the wine. Will definitey be buying more when I run out!!!
