big kart track

This was firmly on the to-do list before I left Adelaide for a short holiday break on Sunshine Coast with my 17yo son. In fact, this and a couple of other attractions were what decided the Sunshine Coast was the winner as the destination for our holiday. We decided to just take the 15 minute karting option each to start with and was pleasantly surprised by the length of time we got to race, no doubt as we went to Big Kart Track on a very quiet day. As a first timer (for many years), I was glad to be able to push the kart hard without worrying about heaps of others on the track. As a very large guy, I was also concerned that the performance would really suffer, but as long as you pick the right lines, the karts were able to drag my mass around without too much protest. I do feel sorry for those poor tyres. I wish we had known of the picnic type area overlooking the track as we had eaten lunch nearby in a hot petrol station just before arriving at Big Kart, so promoting the other facilities equally on the website would have helped us and lengthened our stay.I didn't ask if it was possible, but getting someone to take a couple of photos of us on the track with our phones would have been great, but I know that wouldn't be easy from a property security perspective, and safety of racers is paramount. Service was friendly and efficient and the directions from the on-track staff were very clear, an important thing for someone "new" to this experience. Will be back for a few more laps on my next Sunshine Coast visit, and thanks for the bonus laps guys :)

My adult son invited me with a few of his mates to join in for some birthday fun! So me as the 55yo hooning around the track with my butt an inch off the ground being tormented by my 24yo son and a group of his mates.. great fun, certainly very fast, got the blood pumping and just loved it.. Best part was the boys slowing down so pop could catch up then they zoomed off again with me in their dust!! The track is long enough so you get some good speed, corners sharp enough to really get into them.. all in all - a great day and terrific to be included. Wouldnt hesitate to go again and recommend to others.Impressed with the safety instructions we were given. After all safety comes first.

Brilliant, well thought out track. Efficiently run. Sometimes a few too many on the track at the one time. Somewhere air conditioned for spectators would be great for the scorching Australian summer.

My wife wanted to go with our little one and chose the small track but he got too scared to put on the helmet so I had to babysit him. The staff at the big go-kart were awesome and gave extra time and I would like to go back to have a go at the big kart track.

Hi Weeryi, In response to your review I would firstly like to thank you for your compliments to our track. At Big Kart Track we strive to offer you a great time with great service, which is why we would like to respond to some of the issues you raised in your review. Firstly, I would like to address the issue raised that your daughter did not meet the requirements to drive the big track. All large bookings ( and booking inquires) are notified of the requirements to drive the big track; that you must be 12 years of age and 152cm tall to drive our karts. The gentlemen who was in charge of your group also visited our track the day before your booking to and we discussed such details on that occasion also. Furthermore, it is clearly stated in our driver agreement forms or ‘wavers’, our price board as you enter and on our website. We understand it can be disappointing for a teenager with high hopes for the big track having to drive the kids track but we must be very firm with these requirements to meet safety standards/regulations. As for the kids track and your complaints on the prices. Perhaps this matter should be spoken to the company your group was with. All tickets were paid for together, the tax receipt addressed to and paid in full by the company, from whom we received no complaints. When a staff member noticed that your daughter and some of the children did not have enclosed footwear, a requirement which was also clearly stated to the group, we happily offered the shoe hire to you free of charge rather than the normal $4 a pair. Furthermore, when you offered to pay for sauce for your children's food or extra cups we said it was no worries for you to help yourself, a generosity which was unfortunately overlooked in your review of our business. In regards to you having to wait for a staff member at the kids track, you informed the staff you had been waiting for 10 minutes already and they immediately organised for one of the track boys to attend to you. We do apologise for any wait on our tracks and appreciate patience and understanding in our busy periods. We are saddened you did not enjoy your Big Kart Track experience as far as to write a negative review on TripAdvisor. We take our reviews and feedback very seriously however, we will correct if we feel the review is not completely accurate. We received great feedback from the rest of your group on Saturday and a warm email from your group leader thanking the staff for a great day.

Great to hear you had fun at our track mate and even better to hear your a regular! If for whatever reason customers feel they have a slower kart, we want them to know they can always swap karts with out friendly staff so thanks for bringing it up in your review! Thanks for your feedback!

Hi Jenny,Thanks for your feedback on our track. We hope that your grandchildren still had a great family day together despite your 10 year olds disappointment. It is unfortunate that your grand son did not make our age requirement despite being a tall boy, but it is an insurance issue that we must be very strict by. Our karts go up to 70K an hour on the Big Track and we want to keep all of our customers safe. We understand the kids track is for the entertainment of younger children, but feel that an intermediate track still would not suffice a kids disappointment when seen next to the 1.2KM track that his older brothers are racing on. As for our pricing system, we do not allow for people to swap tickets between the group because it is clearly stated on the pricing board that each ticket is per person. The Big Kart Track has been running successfully for 32 years now with this formula. We hope to see your family back when your youngest is old enough to race around with the rest of the family!
