I am reluctant to write about Etty Bay as it is such a beautiful, peaceful yet unpopulated place and I don't want to spoil it by having hundreds of people go there. If you want a quiet bay with a small beach surrounded by lush rainforest, go to Etty Bay but don't tell anyone about it. It is just heaven. Great campsite perfect for Brits type vans or backpackers heading north or south. Worth the stop for the night. If you are lucky, you may see the resident cassowary.

Beautiful beach, ice-cream, coffee, at the foot of tropical rainforest, rocks for fishing. Just Beautiful.

Great camping ground with the best views out to sea.Stinger nets in so safe swimming.Cassowaries passing through at their leisure to everyone's delight.Good coffee & cake or ice creams at the kiosk & the knowledgable staff there will be up to date with the latest cassowary sightings.A lovely place to visit for a day or more. Can get very busy in school holidays.

Etty Bay is such a lovely little spot, to sit and have a swim at the beach, you can even catch a cassowary or too just wandering around, which is just fantastic

For those with a self-contained van and a love of nature , peace and quiet with an opportunity to enjoy a sea-side holiday, this is the perfect location. Many are scared away at Xmas by impending weather, think of it another way, the place is peaceful just listen for weather forecasts. Do not bring your mobile phone, it wioll not work

Visited Etty Bay yesterday, 25 November 2014, specifically to look for Cassowary. Arrived at 06:45hrs and managed to see a juvenile at the South end of the beach. Things quietened down so at 09:00hrs when the Kiosk/Café opened we all had Coffee & Muffins which were all excellent and really great value for money. The staff there were exceptionally friendly, providing us with up to date information on Cassowary sightings. We later left Etty Bay for a few hours returning late afternoon and managed to see a further 2 Cassowaries, an adult female and male. We decided to celebrate with Fish & Chips from the café which were also excellent. There's safe bathing with a 'Stinger' net, plenty of good toilet facilities. And by way of entertainment the local, tandem parachute franchise land at the North end of the beach. All in all a great place to spend a few hours, wildlife watching or just enjoying the beach. Highly Recommended.

We went here for the sole purpose of seeing a Cassowary. Arrived at 7am just as a immature bird was leaving the beach area. We then waited all day. What a lovely beach this is, unspoilt and has a stinger net in season. We went to the Kiosk at 9am for coffee and muffins, both very good and chatted with a young lady about the latest information on the Cassowaries. She was very helpful and nice and friendly. By late afternoon we left the beach for about an hour and a half but came back and saw our first Cassowary. Fantastic. It was now 5pm so we had very good fish & chips from the Kiosk, cooked fresh. Before leaving another Cassowary arrived, the male. The end to a great day and thanks to the Kiosk for the lovely food.

This is a lovely part of north Queensland, with the nice little café, kiosk, the most beautiful beach in the area, and so family friendly, most days you also get a visit from the local Cassowary family. we will be going back real soon 10/10

Stunning beach, very relaxing and awesome weather, the tide was in and gentle waves lapped the shore. Only negative experience was the 60+ lady who worked in the store that sold takeaway food, very rude, needs to do an hospitality course, otherwise everything else was as you'd expect for an October day in Qld...perfect

Fun for kids swimming nice and clear with lifesavers on duty. Good public amenities.Whilst there was a good selection, food was oily and expensive.

Etty Bay is a must visit, the beach is beautiful. Surrounded by National park this place is off the beaten track, but it is worth the effort to drive here and stay. the road leading to Etty bay is sealed and however No animals allowed. we stayed for a look and a cup of coffee from the general store. The outlook was great, but the coffee was burnt, yuk. The bay is well protected from winds and there are a lot of caravaners filling the park. The sand is golden and the beach is suitable for children. There is a Cassowary which frequents this place but not on the day of our visit.

Great shady beach with lovely views. Wandering cassowaries here which we finally saw on our third visit.

This is our favourite beach of anywhere. It is shady (VERY unusual for a beach). It is spotless and has plenty of tables and seats and Barbeques with a lovely, clean cafe across the road. And wandering cassowaries! Great swimming - with a stinger net for summer months. When our adult children come home with their children, this is their favourite re-visit!!
