Really worth stopping by if you have the time--the property is really well maintained, and rather huge. Numerous items from the past--buildings, furniture, equipment, photos--all beautifully maintained with information, and gives you a glimpse of how settlers back in the day lived and worked. We found the entire visit enormously interesting, however would have liked more information. Perhaps an audio guide/comprehensive guide book would be something to consider for the future, should resources permit, but this is a minor quibble. As a bonus, there were also two very friendly, slobbering dogs that loved playing! We did go on a very hot day, so if you're visiting in the summer be aware that shade can be a bit sparse in some places, and it can get quite warm. Didn't try the food or drinks, but there were some visitors having tea and cakes in the cafe.

What a fantastic place! Care takers object what it is. Tim and Suzy are friendly and go the extra mile. Milo the dog is amazing and entertained our son the entire time. Food good and exhibit really interesting. Must visit!

Just the homestead in General, what a great piece of history, they were very innovative in those days and lived a hard life.

The homestead & it's stables offer a glimpse into the times of the original inhabitants. The buildings & surrounds are beautifully maintained. Information on the history is well presented. Walking around the site is peaceful & the converted 'Barn' cafe provides a relaxing environment for fresh & tasty refreshments at reasonable prices.

The national trust have done a great job, as do the volunteers of showcasing this homestead - lovingly restored slab construction of the house and sandstone stables...well worth a visit

The atmosphere of early settlers everyday lifestyle is beautifully presented in a way that entertains the imagination and educates all age groups. The renovations have faithfully preserved a bygone era.

What makes a visit to this old homestead interesting is the volunteers who spend their time answering the questions you have. We really enjoyed our visit, finding out about the history of this old place.

Guide was friendly and went out of way to give the whole group an engaging and entertaining visit. Enjoyed the extra bits not normally on the tour especially Milo.

It is understandable that you need to manage your pension funds. However please keep in Mind that this Museum is a National Trust of Australia (NSW) property & the entrance fee hasn't changed for many years. Taking care of our heritage requires funds & the entrance fee supports those activities. Thank you for your comment.

The National Trust acquired a treasure in this property and the recent addition of a slab hut church from the same period makes a visit well worthwhile. Whilst here you can also enjoy lunch in the cafe which is delicious and also good value. The property caters for functions and can be hired for your special event.

...we stumbled upon this place looking for lunch...it looked lovely and the history behind it was unbelievable. Stunning surroundings for our coffee and cakes - perfect little place to have a cup of coffee and a slice of cake and take it the peace and quiet for our weekend away. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and seriously the cakes are absolutely amazing. You must visit when in Dubbo!

We were travelling with teenagers. They enjoyed the visit. Audio buttons to push, rooms you can enter & chairs you can sit in added to the interactive history lesson they didn't known they were having. The location is beautiful. We were there just over an hour.
