The Gaol is very well preserved and offers a great visit. A great gift shop and if your into photography, you will get some great photos

Wentworth goal and museum is about a half hour drive from Mildura. There is great history here mainly for the older generations or adults. I think children would find it a little boring and instead of taking at least an hour to view with children you would be out in no time. Cost $12.00 for adults. If you want to know the history of the gaol I highly recommend visiting.

The displays in the gaoler's' residence were interesting and looking at the conditions prisoners endured provided an insight of days gone by.

was a great way to learn the history behind the gaol and the past inmates there. Lots of history to learn. Was more set up for an experience of adults. Kids were really bored. And unless you were standing inside the gaol there wasnt alot of seating or shade for "visitors".

The man who runs the Gaol was happy to have a chat encouraged us to dress up, take photos and touch stuff. Not like a usual museum type place, we were able to go into cells and take photos and wander around. The entrance price was not over the top. We spent a great hour there.Y

I found the gaol really interesting and enjoyed reading the stories in the display although the print was pretty small for seniors like myself :-) Wouldn't be too expensive to update some of the information and reprint it. Certainly worth a look if you are in the area and have an interest in history. Personally I find gaol tours anywhere a bit depressing considering the conditions that were endured. I am also not very comfortable with indigenous artifacts being housed here.

Pro's: The entry price is modest ($20 for a family). The building is in good repair. The staff member/volunteer was friendly and engaging. My boys actually had a really good time. I thought there wouldn't be enough to keep them amused but they actually enjoyed it.Con's: This was not my first visit and it's a shame that it appears a lot of the exhibits are no longer on show. My last visit though was 23 years ago so maybe some items have been damaged or have needed to be removed from show for preservation. Although the goal probably doesn't receive any funding it probably could be more 'polished'.If you are 'into' history then this is worth a visit. Otherwise it may not be something you would enjoy.

So much history and things to look at. We have stopped at a lot of historic Gaols and they all have their own character and stories of the criminals housed and the treatments they endured. This is worth the stop if you are in the area.

We found that this was a very interesting place to visit but it would not be on our list of accommodation places to stay. It is amazing what prisioners in the early days had to put up with. Much better to stay on the straight and narrow. Well worth a visit.

There's not a massive amount of things to do in Wentworth so I guess the gaol is worth a look. The building structure itself is in quite good nick but not really refurbished. I would have thought that the emphasis would be to provide local information and some of the stories given are interesting. But really - what has Port Arthur got to do with Wentworth and why is a Tasmanian police uniform on show? Totally inappropriate. The entrance area is a glorified junk shop but you can ignore that (and the questionable souvenirs!) I just think it's a shame that there hasn't been more funding and museum expertise available for this site.

Despite having been to Wentworth on many visits we have never been in Gaol. For the very modest entry fee it is well worth the visit. The whole area is very well maintained with much to see. Exhibits are well displayed with explanatory information.Dont rush your visit as you will be pleasantry surprised. The chap running the centre is most helpfull - give him your support.

Enjoyable and worth the fee but there is only so much to see in an old gaol. There is a bric a brac/ antique store at the entrance if you're into that sort of thing. You should also check out the museum across the road. It is full of interesting artefacts from in and around the town.

Some interesting facts and examples of history of the district. The gaol has an interesting past in being not only a gaol but also a school during its time.
