This short visit to the Pinnacles have proven to be a right choice. An easy and quick walking trail with an amazing view, really. If you're passing nearby, just spend about an hour in this place (including getting there from the main road, parking, walking and taking lots of pics). Oh, and if you're in the area and looking for something else to do, don't miss the Potoroo Palace. Fun experience with native Australian animals.

We spent the day in the park. Pinacles walk, and their amazing beach. Than a drive through the park to Haycock point, for a walk together with kangaroos and lizards and finally a swim in a beutiful spot like severs beach. Highly recommended!

Easy access to all types of vehicles. Easy walk, highly recommend the walk. Spectacular sights of geographic brilliance. Generally a breeze is blowing so it is not worth shunning just because its a hot day. Well worth the visit.

Located a few hundred metres off The Princess Highway inside the Ben Boyd National Park, the Pinnacles are a geologic formation just off the beach that has an alien appearance, unusual in colour & shape, it is one of the hidden secrets of the Sapphire Coast. The unusual landform was created partly by running water, eroding sharply into the soil exposing the brightly coloured layering of two different types of sand & sediment 65 squillion years ago forming this gully. The lower half of the rocky cliff is a white sandy colour while the top is a striking red/orange clay. Not sounding nearly as interesting as Ozzy Osbourne on acid it is quite interesting to look at if not then it’s backdrop on an isolated beach is something you don’t see every day. The walking track from the car park is a typical Australian national park set up without any concrete or asphalt to spoil the natural appeal & is an easy 30 min walk. There are information boards & path markers pointing to the Pinnacles Beach/Long Beach & the Pinnacles loop walk leading to two main lookouts of the Pinnacles rock formation. At 1.1kms the circuit loop is very easy with views of the Sapphire Coast off a high point down onto the beach. The track winds thru some nice wild trees whose trunks & branches have been twisted by fierce coastal winds. We encountered some curious wallabies on the track which was startling but a great bonus to our day since they are not violent by nature & quickly scuttled off to hide.It is possible to access the base of the Pinnacles from Long Beach where far more dramatic photos can be taken, its namesake due to its long crescent length. Long Beach itself is a beautiful stretch of sand with cliffs from the edge of Ben Boyd National Park standing over above. Part of its appeal to me was is its long 7.25km stretch giving it an extremely isolated feel far from the world in peaceful solitude. Located just off the Princess Highway on Haycock road which lead us into Ben Boyd National Park on the way to Merimbula. A normal 2WD car can easily access the national park where signs lead visitors all the way to the main Pinnacles car park about 2kms from the highway. A very easy loop track for children & elderly. No entrance or parking fee.
