It was over 30 degrees outside so it was excellent to walk in to the cool air conditioned atmosphere of the Coonabarabran information centre. Inside was packed with information about the local area. This included fossils, geology, history, and Aboriginal art, as well as lots of pamphlets and guidance of local attractions and activities. The staff were very helpful and not only had free maps but could also expand on the history of the area.

The people running the centre are super. They know their stuff really well and give clear and very informative guidance. Lots of maps and info pamphlets that are so, so useful.

The staff person didn't choose to tell us that the park was really devastated by fire and a drive through would suffice to see the wonderful rock formations. We'd asked if there were trails with the potential for seeing wildlife and were directed to walks that the ranger at the park told us were not good. Either way, walks here are sad and if seeing the Warumbungles are the goal, drive the road through the park - you might see kangaroos as well.

Drop in and get all the info you need. There is so much to do in this area, and the information centre staff are so helpful.

this place offers travelers a place to stop for a coffee, tea and a snack for only a gold coin donation. The toilets are clean and the people are friendly. Many tired travelers stop here for a break

The Visitor Centre is located only a short from the Coonabarabran Central District. There is plenty of parking for caravans and motorhomes.A great visitor information centre with nice and knowledgeable staff. While you are there, also have a look at the Museum on the Diprotodon, Art Gallery and the Aboriginal Keeping Place.
