Penguins is what you go for and penguins is what you get. The guide with his yellow light was really good, knew exactly where the trails to follow were and his pace was easy with lots of stops so that everyone had the chance to look at the penguins and the babies waiting to be fed. Wear good shoes because the walking is in through the sand dunes. We were very lucky to have a fine, warm night but on a cold night it would be necessary to wear the right clothing

The 1 hour tour is delightful and well valued for money. A Must Do no matter you travel alone, in couple or as a family!!

This is a must do activity! Without a doubt this is the best Penguin experience you can have. The entire evening was fantastic and very interesting. Access is quite easy, but dress appropriately as it can get quite cold.

This was an awesome experience, the tour guides were very knowledgable, friendly and cater to all types of people, they assisted my mum, who was slightly incapacitated with a leg ailment so that she could also enjoy the experience the same as everyone else. They ensure that your experience is safe, and everyone has what they term as the penguin experience without interrupting the penguins habitat. We went in February which is the time when you can see adult, chicks and malting penguins all at the same time. It was very good value for money ( very reasonable prices ). I highly recommend this tour, it will certainly be one if your holiday highlights.

Unreal. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. The penguins couldn't care less if you were there. You sit in their pathway and they calmly walk within inches around you!

The tour guides were very passionate and informative and the little penguins wander around as you are shown around the area they nest. It was so amazing to see them at your feet and watch them feed their young ones. We were all awe struck during the time we spent there.

I researched several options for seeing the "Fairy Penguin" population while planning our trip to Australia, and when I stumbled on the website for Low Head Tours, I changed our itinerary to include Tasmania. I cannot express how grateful I am for making this adjustment. Not only was our "tour" (which is really a guided observation) OUTSTANDING, but we found Tasmania in general to be fantastic. Low Head is a stretch of beach that the tour company rents from Georgetown for two hours each evening to give observers the chance to watch these adorable creatures return to their nests on the beach. Because this tour company provides tours every single night of the year, the penguins are comfortable with human presence and come right up to and around your feet if you hold very still. They were not bothered by talking, just by walking or movement. The tour company breaks participants into groups (ours had about 15 people) and locates each group in different spots up and down the beach to witness the arrival of the penguins. It was easy to talk with our guide, although it was VERY WINDY and COLD in spite of the summer calendar. We found our guide to be quite knowledgeable and informative and gave her a nice tip (although no tip was asked for.) The penguins themselves are the star of the show, gathering up strength in numbers, then moving up the rocks to the sand, then repeating the process over and over until they arrive at the areas where their nests are located. They were quiet at first and then things got fairly noisy as they approached the chicks. I am so glad this was the tour we went with. The ones in the Melbourne area and Phillip Island seem much more commercialized and would never have given us such an up close and personal interaction. Not everyone goes to Tasmania when visiting Australia, but I give it my highest endorsement and hope I will get the chance to return, if only to see these adorable creatures in their natural habitat again.

We watched the fairy penguins walking by our feet. Everyone was so quiet and stood/sat still to observe these cute little creatures. It was truly an amazing moment!

No words can define this experience. It was excellent. Kids loved it. Staff was very friendly. A one hour tour for AUD 50.00 for a family of 4 was great price for such fabulous experience. Many thanks to Shrley.Mamta

An experience anyone staying in or around Launceston/Tamar must have. The staff are all welcoming and brimming with exceptional knowledge. The tour is conducted with the welfare of the penguins as priority. If was fabulous to stand and wait for the penguins to appear and then watch as they waddle past to their chirping young waiting in the burrows.

Stumbled upon by accident, this little advertised place was a million times better than Philip Island as we got to see the Penguins up close and personal on the beach. The service was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly kind with mum who was on a wheelchair and they ensured that she also got the full experience. The staff were very gentle and kind with the Penguins and clearly very knowledgable about the Penguins ways. 10/10 and highly recommended!

This is the third time that we have ventured out to see little fairy penguins here in Tasmania. First we went to Stanley where there was no guide and we were not sure what we were looking for/at!! The second was at Lillico Beach near Turners Beach where there was a guide (paid by a gold coin donation) and the third time was at Low Head. This tour was the BEST!! We saw heaps of penguins, lots of baby chicks. The tour was organised, informative and even though we were in "their" territory we felt that we were not intrusive. We paid $17.50 per adult but well worth it. A must - wear warm clohing, hat, gloves etc as it can get very windy (open area) and cold - even in December.

An incredible experience. It was fabulous to watch the penguins come onto the beach and waddle past us on the way to their burrows to feed their young. The guides are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It is cold so rug up so you can truly enjoy the experience.

My family booked to visit the penguins at Low Head last minute and we were glad we did it. Our guide, Shirley, was exceptionally thoughtful with our aged parents on wheel chairs. She went through great length to ensure all of us were comfortable and made sure our parents had many chances to see the penguins up close. We were very glad to have Shirley taking care of us and our parents personally. She was so knowledgeable about the penguins. This has to be rated my best experience to see penguins so far. You can really get up close with them as they brush pass your feet in the dark. Very highly recommended and thank you once again to Shirley for giving us such a memorable time in Tasmania.

We would highly recommend this tour to anyone thinking it may be a bit tricky walking in the dark. Shirley our guide led my Father by the arm all they way. We were in a group of only three with 2 other guides with their groups. Although we didn't go onto the beach we still had an up and close experience with the penguins as they passed on their way to their young. David from Tasmanian Coach Tours drove us out and back and we recommend him to anyone not wanting the drive themselves and here a bit of local knowledge. A big thank you to Shirley for making the evening a time to remember.
