I would not visit this again. We were there for 40mins at the absolute most, and while I could see there was so much detail in the little village and the historical aspect was interesting, I felt as though the village had not been maintained well.

Whilst we appreciated the time and effort in researching and building this miniature village, after paying $15 each to enter, we expected to be able spend more than 15-20 minutes browsing the display. My husband took a few photos and we walked around twice in that time just in case we had missed anything. We asked about Seniors discount but there was none! Compared with a nearby attraction which provided a small Seniors discount and an entry fee of $9, we found much more to see and spent nearly an hour at the other place. A fee of $10 would be reasonable and result in more people through the door, I strongly suspect. We saw quite a few people turn away when they saw the price.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Old Hobart Town. A very authentic view of life in Hobart in the very early days, with buildings copied to scale, and daily life shown in the hundreds of constructed figures throughout the site. We felt like we had a great 'bird's eye view' of early Hobart.

Went here as we were visiting Richmond. $15 per adult is a bit steep and you see it all in about 30min. Probably more something to do if you have kids.

You can see the love and passion that must have gone into the construction of this model of Old Hobart Town. Some of my friends balked at the $12 entry fee but I personally could see the value and history represented. Lucky for them they changed their minds and enjoyed the experience. The info boards were most helpful and looking for hidden objects was a trial. I enjoyed every minute of my visit.

The attention to detail that has been put into the display is amazing! It shows Hobart as it was in the 1800's and you really appreciate it if you have just visited Hobart and can picture the past and present. Take time to look at the display, especially the people, there is a lot of imagination used here! They give you a task to try to locate 4 things they have pictured on their map. This kept us amused and it makes you look beyond the buildings.

After visiting the model village, my wife & I were very impressed with professionalism of the site. Adding to our knowledge of early Tasmania & Australia. It took us approx 40 minutes to find the four questions that was asked on the first history board. To think that the construction of the model visit took three (3) years to complete. Wow!

We felt the advertising for the village overrated the place. While it was well done it was much smaller then expected and didn't take very long to view it all. As a school excursion project it would probably be better value.

Took my 2/3/4 class to explore the Model Village and Richmond back in November 2014. The kids loved it and were very engaged with all the attraction has to offer. All were focused on identifying the buildings and finding the hidden statues as well. A great way to link what they have been learning in class. Also took my family back in early Jan 15 and we had a ball. Spent over an hour exploring the model. A big congratulations to the owners and their staff for creating and maintaining such a wonderful attraction.

Wow! so much work has gone in to this model village ... a must see !! Not only was it informative but it was a lot of fun finding the "hidden" objects and seeing some of the more hilarious characters scattered around the display.

I highly recommend this attraction. The attention to detail and historical accuracy gave it a grittiness that other model villages often lack. I enjoyed reading the plaques which gave some background and explained what is now located on the sites of various parts of Old Hobart Town. I loved the details and texture in the bricks and tiles. The little vignettes throughout the display were charming and told many engaging stories about life in the early 1800s. The whole experience was informative and fun.John A. (15 years)

It was overpriced for what it is, would not recommend taking the children as they will be bored and for the cost it's not worth it

Loved this display. We spent 2 hours enjoying all that was on offer and didn't leave until we had found all 4 of the hidden items. This kept us going for some time.

It had wonderful detail and it was great to see how they lived back then. It was well made. With two children it was hard to read the map and read all of the information on the boards, when all they wanted to do was look for the four things to find then get their sticker and leave.

Really worth a look and the detail is amazing. Gives one a lot to think about in terms of life in early Hobart town.
