It was a pleasure to view the George Town watch house and be guided around the building by a very knowledgeable and pleasant young man. The model of the original township and the history of George Town being the HQ for the north was fantastic. The old cells and other exhibits were very well done. The video of the women's factory and the recognition with the making of bonnets that represents their deceased babies was sad but also inspirational. The Watch House is well worth a visit.

This museum is part of a Triple ticket for attractions in George Town and Low Head. It was rather interesting reliving the history of the time. The volunteers were very friendly and passionate. The building is beautiful to see inside and out.

Volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable locals. Architectural history is evident as well as a great diorama of the area in the 1800s.

I recommend buying the combined ticked giving entry here plus Bass and Flinders Centre and Low Head Pilot Station. There is a great model of Georgetown as it was in early days of settlement, several buildings are still standing just across the street from the Watch House

This old building has had many uses over the years but now it serves as an information office, a small museum and exhibition display area. The bit I liked best was the huge model made in fabulous detail of the town as it was when the Watch House was first built. The old prison cells are still in the building. We've visited here twice, and both times the volunteer staff were wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable about George Town. Don’t miss this place!
