This is a fantastic not-to-be-missed attraction which houses Yarns Artwork in Silk and the Deloraine Folk Museum, both of which are absolutely outstanding. The Quilting display is world class with a sound and light show enhansing the experience. The intricate work in the "tapestries" is unbelievable. The folk museum is enhanced by the beautiful olde world gardens. Well worth a visit on top of the wonderful street sculptures.Do not miss!!!David & Sue, Hobart

This place is amazing. The quilts are totally astounding, and loved the Folk Museum & cottage garden. I first visited last weekend & brought friends to see it this weekend. I will be back, too.Thank you to to wonderful staff.

This information centre is one of the best we have visited. Extensive information is to be found on the Tasmanian Forestry System together with samples of the various trees planted throughout the State. It is a modern centre staffed by knowledgeable people all friendly and eager to assist.

The centre is well equipped with maps and brochures. Online accommodation booking takes the hardwork out of finding somewhere to stay. The gift shop has a good range of local 'goodies'. Staff and volunteers are most helpful.

We found the Great Western Tiers Visitors Centre a very informative and friendly place , with lots of great ideas for attractions around Deloraine. Access to the Museum and Silk Yarns are via the Visitors Centre. The Visitors Centre had a large range of Tasmanian gifts and produce. The Museum and Silk Yarns a well worth the admission fee to see and your own pace. The viewing deck at the rear of the Centre is a great place to view the surrounding mountains with a map naming individual mountains in the Great Western Tiers.

The volunteers were very helpful about accommodation and made some calls for us. We did the booking at the information centre which was easy.

Lots of useful information, gifts, postcards and stamps. The ladies let us stay here on a wet, miserable January 1 until our motel room was ready and were very helpful.

As with all the visitor centres in Tasmania, the staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a huge amount of printed information available, including maps. Clean bathrooms too.

The silks display is the best I have ever seen . The 12 minute display shows you what to look at when the lights go back on

Great help from knowledgeable staff and many local volunteers. Also a great museum and sensational views over the Great Western Tiers. Also, the YARNS exhibition is one of the best things to visit in the Tassie.

We had waited till Deloraine to find out lots of information about the area on our way to Cradle Mountain. The woman who attended to us was quite shy I think and seemed to need us to ask specific questions where we were hoping for a quick overall run down of the region. Her male cohort added in lots of helpful advice, just what we needed. We were thankful as all the advice we received allowed us to have a great afternoon in the area especially going to Sheffield on the way to Cradle. Thank you!

If you've got kids anxious to get out of the car then you may want to check this out and let em run around assuming the weather is good. Or if you're into arts quilting there is a great sense of pride with this project. But really the best thing is the view of the Tiers from the back deck. I'm not sure about the fee vs what you get but the ladies at the desk are helpful and the restrooms are clean. As a tourist, it's the kind of place you may need to only visit once.
