Reserve is well kept with lots of plant/tree information, good education for kids and adults. Bit hard to find and difficult to turn off from the main road.

This is a lovely 6 acre reserve, established under very old SA blue gums in 1982, just outside of Victor Harbor. It showcases the native flora of both the Fleurieu Peninsula and the rest of Australia. Most of the plants are named. The main paths are wheelchair accessible, as is the toilet. It is a wonderful place for children to explore as some of the more narrow pathways are quite mysterious as they disappear behind the trees and shrubs. There is a gazebo at the Northern end of the garden, near the Western Australian plantings, which is a great spot for a break. There are viewing seats scattered throughout the reserve.A new bird hide and pond have recently been constructed and are excellent for photographers.Over 70 species of birds have been recorded here.Flowering is at its peak in early spring, continuing through the Summer, but even now in April there is a host of shrubs in bud or flower. These include Correas.,Grevilleas, Hakeas, Eremophilas and Banksias to name a few.The first wattle is also showing colour. In Spring the WA area is an absolute mass of colour, with Verticordias, Eremophilas and Callistemons all showing off their flowers. There is also a new scented garden with very good access. The area is maintained by volunteers with some help from the local council so the gold coin donation that can be given is very welcome.
