It was great fun , not a Steam train today, This apparently happens due to weather conditions but a great nostalgic ride any way .Considering all the Workers are Volunteers they do a great job but , couldn't hear the Speaker, need to sort out the PA system..

We travelled to goolwa from adelaide to catch this train to Victor Harbour ,it travels along the coast line and does have some good views ,the ride is only 30 mins ,but the carriages are nicely restored and it is a nostalgic reminder of days gone by .they run 3 return trips a day ,so we took the first trip and spent a couple of hours wandering around Victor Harbour and having lunch then returned to goolwa on the second return journey .a totally enjoyable and inexpensive day ,great for family's with young children and older people alike .

The Cockle Train trip from Goolwa to Victor Harbor follows along the coastline for much of the trip. It is a lovely day out. The only down for us was the steam train was replaced by a rail motor for our trip (the last one of the day). It was still a restored old train - just lacked the magic of a steam train. The weather forecast for the next day was extremely hot and windy, so the train was not running - so consider the weather when planning your journey. Thoroughly enjoyable ride!

This is a beautifully kept train with its puffing billy engine and the carriages are just fabulous. Good trip from Goolwa to Victor Harbour. Runs three times a day both ways.

Lovely and inexpensive experience. The volunteers who staff the train are very friendly and obviously enjoy their work - they make all the difference. The train is just amazing with the wonderfully maintained carriages. Highly recommended. I just wish I could shuffle the coal for at least a few minutes!

Great fun, nostalgic and great for the kids. Pricey, but you don't mind paying to assist in the upkeep of the engine. Spectacular views as well

A lovely experience travelling along the coast on the steam train. Well run by very enthusiastic people .

Worth every cent and the views travelling along the coastline are stunning. It is all run by volunteers and I take my hat off to them for doing such a superb job. The old carriages are in fabulous condition and it makes you think how hard travelling must have been back in the old days. We travelled from Victor Harbour to Goolwa and return passing through many quaint towns along the way. A fabulous day had by all

My young kids really enjoyed the trip, as did my wife and I. The old carriages are beautifully presented. It's a fun trip, worth every cent.

We caught "The Cockle train" from Victor Harbor to Goolwa along the picturesque coastal railway. Unfortunately the train was pulled by a "smelly Diesel "as the countryside was very dry. We enjoyed our walk around Goolwa but were a little disappointed that we could not get some Cockles to eat. In fact our requests were considered strange by the people we asked. We did get some Goolwa Cockles later on, on our trip on Kangaroo Island!Doh!. The trip back to VH was good and all in all a good day out for train buffs and kids at heart.

This is an excellent attraction and the journey from Goolwa to Victor Harbour is most enjoyable. All the staff are volunteers and they do a wonderful job in caring for the rolling stock and running the service. If you are lucky you may be invited to the drivers cab to sit and watch from the front. Well done to everyone involved in keeping the Cockle Train running and available for visitors to enjoy.

My husband and I took our two grandsons on a fun trip on the Cockle Steam Train. We boarded at Goolwa and enjoyed a 30 min journey to Victor Harbor for a 3 hour stop over. The sea views along the way were lovely and the boys absolutely loved the steam engine! The return journey was just as much fun! Luckily, the weather was perfect...highly recommended!

Stunning seaside views on the trip. Reasonably priced compared to similar heritage railways (e.g. Puffing Billy in Melbourne). We enjoyed the fact that different trains are running on the same day, so we had timber lined carriages behind a steam engine one way, and a lovely 1950s rail-motor on the way back. This is a great option for a rainy day.

The delight this train trip gave my 2 1/2 year old grandson was gorgeous. And I loved the train experience in its own right. The train staff were so welcoming and we had the opportunity to go up the front near the driver. Unfortunately we didn't have the steam engine but we still had a great time with the old diesel. Thanks to those people who volunteer and keep this cockle train line operating. It is a living history.
