My 4 children aged 8, 11, 12 and 14 were booked in for a 2 hour surfing lesson on a lovely sunny April morning. Phil greeted them with enthusiasm and kitted them all out with wetsuits and boards. The lesson started on the beach with a safety briefing about rips and the like and Phil taught the kids a few different ways to stand up on a board while they were still on the sand. Although they were keen to head into the water they all had fun on the sand as Phil had a great rapport with the kids and had them all keen and eager to learn. Once they headed out into the water all the kids practiced what they had learnt on the beach, with Phil giving each one individual attention to enable them to get up on the board and catch a wave. His obvious excitement when the kids caught a wave was great to see and he made sure those that were struggling were not disheartened and instead were keen to keep trying. Our two hour lesson extended way beyond two hours and Phil even took the kids out for an extra hour or so after lunch, just for fun.All in all it was a fantastic experience for the children. They were thrilled to be able to stand up and catch a wave and had so much fun learning how to do so. Phil was a great teacher who clearly loved what he was doing. Would highly recommend Ocean Living Surf School to anyone looking for a great surfing experience.
