If you drive north of Katherine for about 40km and take the turn off on the right for another 20km you come to Edith Falls. You can also get here by hiking overland from Katherine Gorge, but I don’t recommend it as it is a 65km walk, can take five days and you have to carry adequate supplies. The falls used to be a secret spot known only to the people of Katherine, but have become rather popular now that the road is sealed and the Conservation Commission has upgraded the park with barbecues and picnic tables to cater for the horde of Dry Season visitors. I enjoyed visiting again to swim in the clear water in the large natural pool surrounded by paperbark trees and fed by a waterfall tumbling down from the escarpment. For the more energetic, you can follow a 3km trail up to the rock pools beyond the top of the falls and return down the other side.

It was the wet and a few days before Christmas so the falls were completely deserted. The piece and quiet inspite of the immense nature before us was breathtaking. It was boiling hot, flies, bugs were quite a torture yet it was beyond beautiful!

The hike is challenging but not too challenging for families with kids around 8-9 or older. Bring drinking water and swimsuits and enjoy a refreshing reward at the upper pool with its picturesque waterfall. Bring a rag or an old t-shirt to keep the constant flies at bay!

The hike up is pretty short and it's a loop so you don't have to turn back the same way. Pools on top are pretty nice with the falls.

Very stunning place, very hot though! The water was closed for swimming but we got some great shots, really lovely:)

Once you manage to make your way up the hill, and down to Edith falls, It's a lovely experience. The water is very refreshing and the views are gorgeous.

One of my favourite places in the NT! Lovely for a swim. Definately worth the look. Can get busy depending on the day.

Like most places in The Northern Territory, Edith Falls is a real wonder. The turnoff on the Stuart Highway is about 40 km North of Katherine and about 15 to 20 mins drive in. We had a look around the bottom large lagoon and walked up the top of the water fall to find other small but swimming friendly lagoons. Beautiful place and definitely worth the visit when you are North of Katherine.

We travelled to Edith Falls with our 11 month old son couldn't go to all of the pools with him as it was too hot. But we swam in the lower pool it's really beautiful. Won't disappoint

Amazingly beautiful - and unlike many similar attractions - incredibly easy to get to. For a swim on a hot day there is nowhere else in the world like Edith Falls :)

Best to go before 3pm because it's very hot after 3pm. After a fairly hefty walk, you need proper walking shoes, at least 1-2litres of water per person, food and supplies make your way up to the top. The falls were absolutely beautiful. Hesitate to say that it's croc freee because it's the territory it wouldn't be. Don't touch the wildlife. But WOW, what a place..... saw goannas, a big fat python in the rock ledge. Be wary of sections where there are leeches and green water. And above all else watch out for crocs because they are all over the territory. Go prepared and make sure you leave before sunset. Well worth the walk, and a secret hideaway place to enjoy minus the tourists. Don't go it alone, go in at least a group of 2-3.. you don't want to get lost out there..

What more can I say. Make sure you see it at least once. I liked the reflections on the water. The peace and tranquility

We visited and were really surprised to see how much water was running there. There were pools to swim in and the 2.8km circular walk was well signed and very scenic indeed.Back at the car park there is a very good refreshment stop, ice creams that were very well frozen and beautifully cold drinks. Well done to the lady that runs that as she certainly knew how to store here products.
