I stayed 5 days in Nuku Hiva, I planned a dive with this club the 4th day to watch sharks and mantas I have never seen before ; I was very enthusiast. (According to the club it was not possible to dive the first 3 day.) On the 3rd day, the divecenter owner called me to cancel the dive saying that due to the rain it was not worth diving in bad visibility. In facts, it has been raining during the nights for the last 3 days, yet the water was crystal clear. On the 4th day it was also crystal clear...To summarize, the divecenter owner just didn't wanted to do the dives and cancelled ''bullshitting'' me. I frequently dive on Tahiti and many other Polynesian islands and it is the first time I am treated this way.To definitely avoid if you want to dive for sure!

Having heard a buddy had a great fishing trip on Eaio with Xavier, I reached out and managed to have Xavier takes us fishing on Apr 15. He arranged for us a Taipivai Valley excursion which had exhilaring views the day before. We left on schedule at 8:15 Am and started jigging about 2 miles from the harbor using the very best tackle money can buy Stella & Dogfight reels mounted on Carpenter & BlackHole Cape Cod Rods from Kilsong. I had brought some 320/220gm CM-hammered diamonds with 8/0 OTI Raptors. The fishing was fast in 140M depths and confined to a small area. Each drift was assured a hit either at the bottom or in-between. We had 2 small YFT and other big bites where most were lost to cut-offs at the hooks or during the fight. Had hooked twice bottom fish when I added a Berkely Tube to the assist hook only to be taken by sharks. One of which was a White-tip of about 90lbs that was hooked on the side that fought hard and released. The wind came up after lunch and we trolled the way in to the west towards Matatetaiko point taking several small bonito on a small green machine fishing 100' from the cliff. The bigger Yozuri Bonita had no takers. Just before the point we jigged the mouth of a bay and hooked several small blue line snapper and possibly a GT but was busted off when it scrapped the bottom plus was busted by a big bruiser. We hooked and released a first an eagle ray and finished off with a 3 lb Yellow Lip Emperor. Back on the dock before 4 PM about a 45 min run in. I believe we would have had better results had we cut-up a bonito and added strips to the 220gm jigs when jigging the mouth of the bay 9 (35-40M). We tried this and did very well in the dry tortugas off FL.Xavier has all the tackle you need to fish 3 people comfortably and I am sure we would have had excellent results with more experience. There is no take on sharks and they are aggressive on hooked fish. Will need to horse your catch in.Reliable, clean and fair operation.
