We visited in September and did a self guided tour using the markers, statues, and signs to piece together the history of the basin, the canal, and the locks. Perhaps there are interpreters during the summer months. We could have learned more. There are lovely walking and biking paths along the basin and the canal. The entire area around the Fort of Chambly is peaceful and beautiful. I was reluctant to leave.

We traveled from NY City to Montreaj via the Chambly Historic Canal System and returned the same. This was a trip of a lifetime. The hospitality at the locks are fantastic. Park Canada operates the system with enthusiasm and proficiency. As novice boaters we were treated well. With the add on permit we were able to park at any of the locks overnight and sometimes for more. Great system.

It was extremely interesting to see the traffic go through while enjoying a family picnic and our children were mezmerized by the flow of the water as the boats came through. Great day for family fun.

This is a great place for relaxing. Nice view of the canal. Sunny weather gives it more charm. I had a nice stroll on the canal. I hope I will try the boats, and bike path soon.

Great place to walk and enjoy outside! Very good restaurants facing the canal, so close to Montreal.

The Chambly canal was beautiful, it had 12 tide gates that allows boats and yachts to navigate across the canal. We stoped to see ''Les amis de Chambly''. They suggested us a couple of activities to do like along the Chambly canal like renting bikes and ride the 20km bike trail along side the canal but we choose to do the GPS rallye which was a great was also to discover and learn about the city of Chambly. They gave a GPS, which was $15 to rent, and we had to go through a treasure hunt across the city looking for clues. It was amazing, we loved it!

This is 8 unique canals that boat have to cross from the Richelieu River to cross the Chambly's rapid . Boat will reavh the St-Laurence River if they want .Look at the nature and the beauty of the small road for bicycle . Take your bike and reach 19kms later l'Iles Ste-Thérèse and St Jean sur le Richelieu . This is flat , no hill , a little bit windy , but a lovely afternoon in family .

The canal is far less used than the bike path that runs alongside it for some 10 miles. Dirt track without potholes and really flat - no hills for the less energetic. Suggest bike 'to' Chambly and get lunch there in the more picturesque town. There's plenty of places to park in St Jean sur Richleau near the start of the path.

Partiellement en terre battue et en asphalte, mais acceptable pour les vélos de route, on circule entre le canal et la rivière Richelieu. Part of Parcs Canada, its era locks open and close to ease the passage of pleasure crafts of today. Faire une randonné de vélo sur le bord du canal est un moyen de découvrir des paysage sublime. De plus la piste est très sécuritaire.

Un vingt kilomètres vers Saint-Jean sur Richelieu dans la nature. Une promenade agréable qui permet d'observer les bateaux dans les différentes écluses, de voir la faune aquatique et de profiter de la nature. A St-Jean, on peut pique-niquer au bord du Richelieu et revenir lentement vers le point de départ. La route verte (piste cyclable) amène les cyclistes à bon port.Bonne randonnée.

Un petit air de vacances on longe le Canal de Chambly . plusieurs endroits a voir d abord les chutes on y retrouve des tables et des petits sentiers pour voir l eau de proche , nous avons vu des pécheurs avec des petites prises et on peut apercevoir des petites tortues d eau ( interdit de les ramasser ). Des pistes cyclables et facile pour les poussettes auss.On continue c est des écluses que l on peut voir et expliquer a nos enfants le principe est visible.Une belle promenade en famille les enfants peuvent courir observer sauter crier un bon bol d air pour tous .

Très bel endroit pour le vélo. Très accueillant, belle piste cyclable. par moment asphaltée, par moment en poussière de gravier. Tout en longeant le Canal Chambly tout le long du parcours. Nous n'avons pas regretter d'avoir fait près de 200 km de route pour s'y rendre.
