shuswap lake provincial park

We went camping in the park and it was great. There is a lot to do even if you have young children. There is a store with laundry facilities, an arcade, and a restaurant just across the street. The lake was great and not too busy. The showers could have been slightly better but they were clean. We spent 2 nights and it was great. It wasn't too loud either.

Very nice park, clean and well maintained campsites. The lake is beautiful and loads of options for water sports. Variety of things to do in the vicinity like mini golf, micro brewery, wineries, fruit orhards, museums. A great getaway for family and all.

My mate and I have attended to the Shuswap Lake Provincial Park on a number of occassions. This is a large park, with more than 200 camp sites. It is extremely busy during the July and August months. OUr most recent visit was on the weekend of September 4 through 7 for 3 nights. Cost was 30 dollars per night. Note that this does not include firewood. Be sure to check ahead of time to see if fire bans are in effect, as they often are during the hottest periods of the summer.The sites seemed to be very clean and well maintained. There is reasonably good separation between sites, the area is very well forested with lots of mature growth. The campsites are well shaded, and it's wise to bring along a sweater or warm weather gear for the evenings, or during cooler parts of the year. The park is on relatively level ground, and the roads are paved. Bicycling is very popular in this park, and the surrounding area is also well accessible for cyclists. The picnic tables at each site and showing their age a bit, but are still quite servicable. This is a dog friendly park. Washrooms have running water, though not hot water except in the Shower facility. I do not believe that there are any serviced sites there. This park is situated quite near the town (very small town- a village??) of Scotch Creek. There are grocery stores, hardware stores, restaurants, and a variety of shops right nearby, within an easy bicycle ride. When you return to your campsite however, you're right back in the woodsy experience of Provincial Park Camping. This is a favourite place for us, and we will continue to go back, but we did notice some problems with the cleaning of the washrooms on our most recent stay. We arrived on a thursday, about 3 p.m. and got our site set up. I attended to the washroom shortly after arrival, and noted some scraps of toilet paper on the floor in the cubicle area, and an unfortunate bit of splashover visible on the underside toilet seat when it was raised. Both of these things were quite visible. I understand that people make messes, and they can't have someone standing there all day. However, those same scraps of toilet paper, and the splashover mess on the underside of the toilet seat, remained right where they were and were still there when we left 3 days later. Clearly there had been no cleaning of the toilet area or the floor during that time. This is a real contrast to our prior attendances at the park.

My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights at the campground. It was really nice and clean with washrooms and showers. The lake was so beautiful. The beach was a bit rocky but still enjoyable.It was so relaxing to just chill at the beach. One of our favorite things to do there was walking to the ice cream shop for some ice cream after spending some time at the beach.

Just wanted to throw up a little review about The Shuswap Fitness facility in Blind Bay Shuswap. If you are traveling to the Shuswap and are looking for a gym, this is a great place to train. There is not much for internet presence of this place so maybe this post will help.Shuswap fitness was a clean facility, they had a great arrangement of machines, free weights and cardio equipment. if you are like me and like to continue to workout while on vacation. Spent two nights camping here with my boyfriend. Beautiful campground and super clean. Lots to do near by like mini golf and wineries. The water was nice and warm, the beach is a bit rockey but who cares, your in the mounatins!!! lol

We are booked to go to camping here again in a few weeks and I'm beyond excited. We have been here summers past and it's the best site we've found in BC. Gorgeous area, great vibe, fantastic little shop to get all your camping needs, and a beautiful lake to swim in. No crazy partiers when we've been there, all very nice and relaxing

We stayed here for a week in late July. We were in a trailer with 2 kids, ages 8 and 10, and 2 adults. Our friends stayed in a tent with the same family set up. We had site 13 and they were in site 10. We loved the campground! Super treed lots, very clean and flat, very room. They leave at least a campsites worth of trees on all sides of you before the next site so you feel like you are on your own. There are double lots for bigger families or groups. There is a gorgeous beach with beautiful, clean water and lots of space for everyone. We swam almost every day and sometimes more than once. There are tons of kid friendly biking/hiking trails around the campsites and it is all fenced in so the kids can ride in pairs or groups and can't accidently get out of the campground. There is a huge grassed playing area around a small playground and a great day visit parking lot to practice biking etc when not in use. We spent hours playing in the woods and my son loved the jump park that kids are gradually putting together using a certain area of the trails. We went white water rafting nearby and that was great. When we had a really rainy day we went to the laudromat at the Park Store, just outside the gates and charged our ipods and enjoyed free internet for an hour. Then we had food at the burger joint attached to the store and enjoyed great ice cream from the icecream shop. We also went to the fancy restaurant next to the park store call Creekside which had a bowling, mini golf (outdoors), and an arcade comparable to Chuck E Cheese. Great rainy day saver! We also went to 3 local farmers markets while we were there. One in Scotch Creek (rode our bikes to it), one in Sorento (other side of the like) and another one just in the next town over from Scotch creek... forgot the name . Lots of fun and lots of fresh produce and even a great Raspberry Rhubarb pie. The grocery store in Scotch creek is loaded and reasonably priced. Great experience all around!!

Beach was out of the way, beautiful drive there, not too busy (even on the long weekend), and perfect exposure to midday summer sun.Only thing was that the beach was a little rocky, but it was nothing we couldn't handle.

Though the years this park has always been one of our favourites. The grounds are well kept and have very large camp sites with lots of surrounding trees. There are nature trails to walk and learn about the area or bring your bike as the park is huge. Copper Island is in sight of the campground and for a day trip, rent a canoe or boat then walk around the island. In the fall Roderick Haig- brown park is a world class viewing area for spawning salmon. Across the street from the campground theres a store/cafe so no worries about forgetting something. The town has grown it now has a home hardware and even larger grocery store. Hope to camp here for another quarter century.

We live by the park now so have not stayed at it ourselves but I did used to when I was a kid. Just loved it back then. And nowadays I love biking or walking through there. It is so nice to be able to enjoy from a different perpective. Theres only one thing about it now...I wish they would have it 50/50 so not everything is reservation to get in. They should only do half reservations and then do half for drive ins. Our campgrounds are getting les out here ..we had 3 in Scotch Creek and now its only the park..

Excellent Campground for families. Close to stores, attractions and Ice Cream Parlor!Large private, clean campsites.Beach is beautiful with excellent swimming and a separate Dog Beach, which is an awesome bonus!Walking Trails and playgrounds.Bathrooms throughout are very clean as well as the showers.

Went biking through this park everyday while we vacationed with Shuswap Cabins - Vacation Rentals. This park is huge with a beautiful boat launch and wildlife inside the park. Would love to pull my camper over to this park for a week during the summer.

The sites are shaded and although there are many of them you do feel separated with some privacy. The beach and green space is beautiful with plenty of swimming area. No boat moorage or parking. You do have to take your boat out each night but the launch is great. The park is centrally located in the area with the most services.

We tented at Shuswap Lk. Prov. Park which was very nice, but our neighbours staying in an RV thought it was perfectly fine to leave bright lights on for everyone else to see, all night. We draped a towel on a line nearby so it was able to block it out. Other than that, it's a good spacious campsite with nice bathrooms. That said, I don't recommend this place if you don't have some kind of watercraft like a sea-doo, motorboat, canoe etc. We are cyclists and after a thorough search and trying out a few supposed bike-friendly routes, we concluded that the area is simply not geared to that at all. There's a nice trail around the lake but we wanted to do a lot more than that. The beach has no sand by the way. Not that great.
