This little ferry is great for crossing between Wolfe Island, Ontario, and Cape Vincent, New York.We showed up at the ferry crossing point in Cape Vincent, which is a lovely little town, and had about 45 minutes to kill, so we just walked around and did some shopping in the little boutiques stores.Closer to departure time, we got in the car and drove to the marked lanes for ferry loading. This ferry is small, holding only a few cars / trucks at a time, but there wasn't much demand when we were there so it wasn't a problem - they loaded on about four cars and a pickup with a small trailer which went on crossways.Loading was quick, the trip was only about 20 minutes or so, and we were unloaded on Wolfe Island in no time. You can get out on the ferry and just enjoy the scenery if you want, but it's a pretty utilitarian working vessel. If you want something unique and a little out of the ordinary for a border crossing, you should try this.

We arrived in Kingston later in afternoon and walked from tourist bureau to ferry. We hopped on and watched the sun set along with a view of the waterfront and all for free.

Had e-mailed ahead about space and was told no problem with a suv and a trailer of 31' length since the ferry looked a little small and was told it wouldn't be a problem. On seeing the ferry approach I was sure there was no way it was going to work and was ready to detour but was assured by the custom's officer they could do it.I was guided aboard the side entering ferry until I was told to stop.I looked back and joked to the shipmate that I wasn't completely on and he assured me it was "smooth sailing" today, lol.Well, we made it with part of my trailer hanging out the side of the boat. : )

This was a fun experience. I have crossed most of the U.S./Canada border crossings but this one is unique. The trip only took 20 min. minutes to cross from Kingston to Wolfe Island (no charge). A short drive across the Island and another short ferry ride (small fee) to the U.S. customs. We were able to take as many photos as we liked both boarding and getting off the ferry's. Cost is reasonable and the ride is a fun experience. Excellent people guiding us on and off and through customs. Would definitely do this again.

We crossed on the ferry for our first time yesterday. We arrived and drove right onto the ferry. My husband and daughter had a blast standing near the front of the ferry and getting splashed by the waves and mist. The trip was fast and it only took a few minutes for the 3 cars on board to be cleared by the customs agent. Wolfe Island is quite a nice little island, and we really enjoyed stopping at the corn maze.

I've lived in Brockville most of my life. I've therefore taken many trips to Kingston and also Wolfe Island. I've crossed over from Kingston to Wolfe Island on the ferry many times in my life. Last summer, I thought my wife and I thought we'd explore and take the ferry from Wolfe Island to Cape Cod. It is a small ferry that is a bit expensive - guess we are used to the free ferry from Kingston to Wolfe Island. Anyways, it was a nice sunny day and we enjoyed the drive to Massena where we went to one of our favourite restaurants - Ponderosa. I'm glad I finally went on this ferry though. We'd probably do it again.

The family that run ferry are friendly, cost is reasonable, discount ifyou return by ferry same day. I left my car on wolf island, free parking, walked on other ferry that docks in to downtown Kingston. Saved time and gas. Will do this every summer.

Tired of line-ups at Massena or Thousand Islands. Then try out Horne's Ferry between Caper Vincent NY and Wolfe Island. Its really a step back in time when border crossings were not about suspicion and stress, We arrived on a holiday weekend about 20 minutes before the departure and were the third in line. We crossed from the US to Canada. The US border guards were so bored they came over and chatted with all the deaprting travellers. The questions were more small talk than interregation and we shared a few jokes. It broke up the wait time. The captain and toll collector on the ferry was pleasant and even gave us a break on the price. The trip takes only minutes and most people get out of their cars to chat. The Canadian side is equally informal but the customs agents asked a lot more questions than we normally get. we figured this was out of boredom as they only get about 7 cars an hour! They were polite though and passed us without a search. Again, we shared a couple of laughs ! The follow-on drive across Wolfe Island and the larger ferry to Kingston were also veryy pleasant. This is a GREAT way to cross the border.

We enjoy taking the trip from Cape Vincent over to Wolfe Island and then hopping the Kingston Ferry for a fun filled day trip. It is nice and relaxing not having to worry about traffic on the bridge! We have always a great experience on the Horne Ferry...very nice people!

Quick and scenic, nice folks and only 6 cars on the ferry...minutes at the border! Perfect to get to Sackets Harbor for the day!

I travelled on Horne's Ferry to reach Cape Vincent, NY and then continue southward. The Ferry is well run, and it's a very efficient way to cut at least an hour of driving to Hill Island.

Boat needs to be bigger to fit more vehicles or go more often. Waited over an hour 4 out of 6 times we used it. Nice that it is free and it runs early morning and late night.
