Often thought of only on Remembrance Day this small focal point in the town of Smiths Falls holds great meaning for those of us who have had family members in WW I, WW II, the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars and those who have fought in the many skirmishes around the world. It is a place of solemn contemplation to give thanks for our freedoms and the rights afforded us in the democracy we enjoy thanks to those who gave unselfishly of themselves. If you want to see how much a small town values its heroes ... show up on November 11th and you'll see babies to the elderly honouring those who gave us freedom.
