Getting to the beach requires a short, uphill walk with the most incredible views of the ocean. Though some folks drove part of the way along the narrow dirt road, we preferred the walk in order to take in the views. (Some folks chose to get there on boats from Charlotteville so this is an option also). After about 20 mins of walking, we came to a flight of stairs and what a flight of stairs it was! One hundred and fifty something odd steps which opened to an incredibly picturesque bay. There were maybe 10 small groups of people on the beach that day (which was a lot from what I understand). Beach was great for snorkeling (so walk with your gear). You can rent a beach chair but there are maybe only 10 of those so be prepared to sit on whatever logs you can find that's comfortable enough. Lots of shade. Pretty secluded. No bathroom facilities. No food items on sale so walk with what you need.

This is definitely a hidden gem in the hills of the northern coast of Tobago. I happened to spot this beach off in the distance whilst in awe of the spectacular view at Fort Campleton. After inquiries it was discovered that you had to drive then walk to it (a lot of steps down to the beach). Though a bit treacherous (be careful while driving! two cars cannot fit on the hillside), it was definitely worth the adventure. It's a see to believe :)

Secluded, quiet beach. The trek to the beach has great views of Charlotteville. Calmer waters than at Charlotteville.

Access:- Narrow dirt road indicated with a sign - do not attempt to drive! + The walk is quite nice with beautiful views of the ocean/boats+ There's a mango tree along the way :)The beach:+ Quiet, locals were playing a soccer game whilst we were there+ Could stay there the whole day - except for us, it started to storm :(+ Mild waves+ There's a rope swing+/- No facilities closeby (food/bathroom/showers), will have to go back to Charlotteville("+" = positives "-" = negatives)

We were there in November and the both times we went, we were alone on this magnificent beach. Great place to meditate.

It was a bit scary getting to the beach. Navigating the hill while overlooking the cliff and the view was amazing. Scenic blue and green waters, lush vegetation. It was worth the adventure as it was the most romantic and beautiful beach for my wife and I in Tobago.

Pirate's Bay is very secluded and untouched. My boyfriend and I were being daring and we drove... we should not have done that. It was very scary trying to maneuver on that narrow and bumpy road with no railing. We made it to an area that had a little more room and I got out and directed him to turn the car around and park. We then walked the rest of the way. The trek to get to the beach was worth the struggle. Very pretty, turquoise water that I could float in all day. We were also the only 2 people on the beach for about an hour before 4 more arrived. I'll definitely return to Pirate's Bay but I will walk or take a boat to the beach. No driving!

A fantastic, beautiful beach that is relatively easy to access. Its like a movie scene. Calm waters that's perfect for everyone. Be sure to walk with snorkelling gear as you can see beautiful fish in waist high water. A really ideal beach for those who love serenity.

There is no road way to get here. You have to walk about 15 minutes but is totally worth it... very beautiful and clear waters.. Just like any other part of Tobago..

This beach was the biggest disappointment of our trip, after all the hype it gets here. It comes not even near Englishman's Bay in terms of quality of the sand. Its hard to find shade as there is so much litter and garbage underneath the trees. Strange place, with excellent snorkeling though. Certainly not worth the effort to get there. We left after one hour and returned to Englsihman's Bay, so much nicer.

We visited pirate bay as a planned drive around the island, having read reviews on TA we parked in Charlotte ville and walked up the track which was clearly signposted to pirates bay, initially the track is ok for cars but the further along it narrows and no room for vehicles to pass, (advice : walk do not drive!) the walk is pleasant with great views of both bays, a path and steps lead down to the bay. A shallow fresh water steam at the bottom of the steps was great to wash sand off feet on returning from the beach. The sea is clear and good for entry and swimming. Pelicans are regularly diving for fish from a rock on the right of the bay. We did notice some larger families were arriving and departing by local fishing boat so I guess if you enquire in Charlottesville this could be arranged? Overall a great day out local shops were open for drinks etc, no facilities on beach!

beautiful. went snorkelling and saw loads of stuff! clean, good for swimming. No road so not ruined. The walk is fine, as long as you are fairly secure on your feet

We went to Charlotteville one day, but it was cloudy. We asked the way to Pirate's Bay and were told to drive up the paved road. (The one I had read about that no one should drive up!). So, if you are told by a local to drive up there, DONT. We did not, but decided to return on a better day. When we did return, it was a Saturday. We were surprised at how few people were around the town. We easily found a spot for the car and walked up the paved road that soon became a dirt road. We kept going and knew to look for the steps going down to the beach. We made it down easily, and there are 156 of them. There was a lady from Chicago who came to ask if we wanted a beach chair. It is her small business during certain times of the year. Her 2 year old son was enjoying the day at the beach with her. We had a good swim and snorkeled in the clear water. It was a great place to spend a few hours. We arrived in Charlotteville around noon, and the fishermen were already selling their fish. After our time at the Bay, we returned to the car to find a lady selling homemake ice cream from her car. Had to have some.

It's one of the least accessible beaches on the island, but well worth the bit of extra effort required to get there. A picture-perfect crescent beach, with dense tropical vegetation behind and views across the bay to the wooded mountains of the main ridge. Lovely, clear water and safe access to/from the sea for people of any age (we visited in April and it was flat calm then).As mentioned by others, there are no facilities (there was a stall, but no-one running it), so bring provisions if you plan on staying for any length of time. I can't say that litter was an issue when we visited. There was the odd bottle or bit of rope at the back of the beach, but not excessive by any means - perhaps there'd been a clear-up.As also mentioned, don't drive past Charlotteville. I'd been told that the road was narrow and in poor condition, but nothing prepared me for the hairy drive! By the time I'd decided it was a bad idea, it was impossible to turn round (a car was parked at the only point wide enough to manoeuvre), so I told the passengers to get out at the top and inched my way back in reverse - it was truly terrifying, with the wheels frequently within a couple of cms of a sheer drop. I'd cursed the person who'd parked on the bend, but it turned out that the car's owner lived in the house just above the beach so, to be fair, the road was, effectively, their driveway.

This beach took my breath away. I mean that quite literally, as we had to walk up a trail from where we parked in Charlotteville. I must admit, the views from walking up that trail were absolutely stunning.Then down lots of steps, and I do mean a lot. More than a hundred. But this was quite fun, although a bit harder to do on the way back up the trail, as we didn't want to take a boat back to Charlotteville. The beach was amazing, clear, warm waters that felt so good on the overcast day that we visited. The beach was not crowded, as there was only a few locals to one end and a group of friends on the other end. This left the entire middle of the little bay for ourselves, which was ideal as my younger sister and her friends do tend to be a bit wild in the water. This beach definitely tops my list of favorite beaches on this little island. I was not aware of this beach despite my numerous visits to Tobago and found myself genuinely surprised at another awesome beach. A great day out with my family and friends and I will definitely be back on my return visit. My only problem, was the amount of garbage left on the beach. People should remove their garbage when they leave, it ruins the place for persons visiting after.
