Awesome, thrilling, fun & challenging, these are the some of the emotions that my wife and i both in our 50's felt after trying out Surfing Puortorico for the first time . Brian and Eric are two very good coaches and they have the experience , patience , and knowledge to make sure that you succeed safely in your pursuit of " hanging ten" on the beautiful waves of Lapared . Their passion for surfing is contagious and be forewarned that after you do finally get the hang of standing on the surf board for the first time you will want to drop it all and become a surfer dude or dudette like my wife and I. Thank you so much guys for making our vacation in Loquillo a memorable one.Mike & Lynne

If you have never surfed before or if you would like a refresher course to make sure you are doing it correctly you have to take part in this experience! It is well worth the money and time while you are in Puerto Rico!

This is the first review I've ever written. I've traveled to many places worth writing about. That should tell you something that I should take the time to write about my surfing experience with Brian and Eric. My experience...sharing for the first time in a very cool sport at a beautiful beach with people who are compassionate and passionate about what they do. The moment you look into Brian's soulful eyes you'll know what I mean. Sharing in someone else's dream is a gift and I am grateful I had the chance to do so. I hope you do too.

BOOK LESSONS WITH SURFING PUERTO RICO! My husband and I just got back from our first ever surfing lesson and it was excellent! We just keeping saying "that was so much fun!" Our instructor was Brian and his assistant Eric- they went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. There were two other people in our lesson and they did a great job tailoring the instructions to everyone's needs and making sure we were all catching waves. The other two people in our group decided to end early, so we ended up with private lessons- for $60- that is unheard of!! A storm ended up coming through but we were able to surf through it and felt totally safe the entire time- such a cool experience! This was a pretty intense experience but Brian was incredibly hands on and encouraging! My husband is a professional soccer coach and can be a little judgmental when it comes to coaching styles and he even was impressed and thought they did an excellent job. We highly recommend booking with Surfing Puerto Rico- great time, great deal and we learned to surf! Not to mention this was MUCH cheaper than the surfing in Rincon. Extra bonuses:-Free photos of the experience taken by Eric and they made sure to get great shots of us up on our boards at same time-Fresh fruit, protein bars & water half way through for much needed energy boost-They went over the 2 hours to make sure we ended on good ride!Thank you Brian and Eric!!!

Brian is a fantastic teacher and person - he took my 17 and 14 year olds and gave them a terrific lesson - by the end of the session they were both standing and rocking the waves. Of course they both want to buy boards now for surfing on the South Shore of Long Island. It's a full two hours of instruction and surfing in the excellent Luquillo surf - nice location, great teacher; I could not recommend Brian more highly........

My 8-year-old son was nervous about his first surf lesson. Brian was so kind, patient and enthusiastic that he had him standing on the board in no time. Unfortunately my son got a little scared by the waves and wanted to stop half way through. Brian was so accommodating and nice that he let us finish the lesson 2 days later which turned out to be a complete success! My son now loves surfing, loved Brian and wants to keep on practicing. Thank you Brian for sticking it out and encouraging him to keep going. Brian's energy and love for surfing is a great motivator for anyone looking for a fun yet instructive surf lesson. Luquillo is a great spot to practice as well.

Decided to take the whole family for a 2 hour surf lessons. Brian was fantastic with the kids (5 & 4 years old) and first time surfer hubby. Brian was very patient and made surfing fun for everyone. Waves were relentless but Brian & his staff urged us to keep going and finally we rode wicked mini monsters to the shoreline. We had a great time and will return for more lessons in a few months!Thank you for wonderful memories. My 4 yo daughter, Kaelani, loves surfing! We are off to buy some surfing equipment.

My 22 year old daughter had a blast and the instruction by Brian and his partner was awesome. This is another activity in the KPR group and everything they do is top notch !!. We went over to Culebra the day before with KPR and booking a second tour they took $10 off - I didn't even have to ask (nice touch). They surf right at La Pared Beach, in Luquillo, just a few yards from shore ... so it is pretty tame to learn in. Best bet is the 8:30 group - calmer water, and gives you rest of the day in Luquillo area (plenty to do) with great beaches and restaurants, and El Yunke rain forest near by.

My Son had a blast with the Surfing for Puerto Rico lesson. It provided Him, with a sense of Freedom He did not found in any other place. Eventhough He tried this kind of Class in other places: Surfing Puerto Rico, provided Him with the Confidence and Careness, that He needed. Thank You :-)

I have a child with special needs and we took her for a first lesson. The surfing coach was really nice, respectful and very patient with her. My older son felt so comfortable with everyone, that he ended up taking the class and now he wants to go back every Saturday for more classes. I recommend this activity for everyone! You can have lots of fun while you learn a new sport.

I am 60 years of age and live in Washington State, 300 miles from the ocean. I have taken surfing lessons twice before with no real success. While staying at Luquillo Sunrise Inn with my family I noticed the Surfing Puerto Rico team at La Pared beach and booked a lesson. Let me tell you...BEST MONEY SPENT ON MY ENTIRE VACATION!!!Enthusiastic instructor, Brian, clearly communicated and demonstrated the entire progression; learning proper balance and board handling procedures on the beach, before moving into the water.Brian shared his knowledge of the ocean waves, currents, and how to harness the power of the ocean not only in catching the wave but also in how to most easily paddle out to catch the next wave. While I certainly could not successfully stand up on the board when starting, with Brian's help, I was thrilled to catch the wave numerous times. Next time I am at the beach, with what I have learned from Brian I am ready to rent a board and practice what he shared with me.I do not know when I will return to Puerto Rico, but when I do I plan to book a follow up lesson with Surfing Puerto Rico to improve my skills.

Great experience! I was offered a surf lessen after I went to snorkeling trip. The place is near where I live. Beautiful sunshine and beach. The coach has 28 years surfing experience. You can totally trust him. I have never surf before, but I stood up very quick at the first class. The coach encourage me every time when I fell into water. I feel safe and brave. It is a best activity I experience in Puerto Rico. And after class, you can enjoy the restaurant there. They are good as well.

Like other reviewers, I was offered this opportunity after participatingin the Bio Bay Kayaking excursion by Kayaking Puerto Rico and decided to take advantage of it since surfing was something I have always wanted to try. This complany offers several excursions but as I understand it, the surfing program is new for them. They were offering it at no charge right now as they are trying to get feeback for perfecting this offering. I don't have a good feel for what the cost will be once they officially launch it.There were 5 of us in this class and every one of us got really personalized attention depending on how well we were "getting it". Their passion for this sport was ifectious and they really did everything they could to make sure every person succeeded. For the folks that were having a little trouble staying upright on the regular surf boards, they brought up a more stable, stand-up paddle board. They really took personal ownership in making sure everyone had fun and was able to succeed! These guys made it a point to know everyone's name and were happy to share lots of information about Puerto Rico so we could make the most of our trip to this great place. I would strongly encourage people to give this a try. They really had great attention to detail. Rash guard shirts for those that did not have them fresh water to rinse off with once we were done, etc.Plan to go ton one of the kiosks in the area like Boardriders for something to eat afterward.

We were offered a chance to learn how to surf when we went to Bio Bay, Laguna Grande with Kayaking Puerto Rico. My 13 year old son wanted to so I figured, why not? I was skeptical in the beginning but really wanted to expose my son to more experiences that he doesn't ordinarily get back home in NC. We arrived at La Pared in Luquillo around 11:30. Brian and Eric were really enthusiastic to teach us. There were 5 of us in his class. Brian educated us on the sand and showed us some of the techniques we would need in the water. He went over and stressed all of the safety aspects of what we would be doing. He explained thoroughly what to do with different scenarios. I had a bit of trouble getting up quick enough on the surf board but he was extremely patient. He critiqued everyone of us in such a friendly non-condescending way. He truly wanted us to "get it." I wound up with the stabilizer board. This in itself was fantastic because I would still get to learn to surf. It turned out that three of us had to use this one. We went one at a time in the water. Eric helped retrieve the board while Brian was out on the sandbar waiting for us. He kept on until he had all of us on the board! My son picked up on it fast, as did another woman in our group. I can't say enough about Brian's patience! He worked really hard at this, making sure we were getting up on that board! About 45 minutes into it, he gave us a quick break to hydrate. He and Eric hit the waves and showed off their amazing skills! They were impressive to watch. We got back into the water for about 30 minutes (I really think it was a little longer but I didn't keep time). All of us were laughing and having a great time. It was one of the most exhilarating things I have tried. As a diver, I tend to stick to under the water. For those who are timid to try this, they keep you in shallow water, perhaps chest deep. When we were finished, Brian provided refreshments and water to replenish our energy. He gave us tips about the rest of our trip on the island. He is quite knowledgeable and I could tell he was truly passionate about what he did. He loved the water, the island, and the people. This is a MUST DO if you are around Puerto Rico. It is a physical challenge that is fun and exhilarating. It leaves you with a feeling of "Hey, I did this!"
