Visited here during our stay in Cabo Rojo and the views were spectacular. Well worth the short drive to get here.

Beach parking lot open 9-5Then walk up the hill to the lighthouse. You can visit inside and take scenic pictures for free. Then walk along the cliffs so scenic. However do not venture too close to the edges as most are hollow and ready to crack... You will encounter lizards, cats and iguanas. Then you can walk to the famous playuela beach. A must do in this area.

Visit the historic lighthouse then go jump the waves at the beach!Go early as the parking lot fills up fast. Dirt road takes you to the base of the hill of the lighthouse.

A must do! You'll love the view. You can hike or ride your bike to the top. Visit the lighthouse and view the sea from the top is a most.

As we hiked down from the lighthouse (where the views are obviously beyond words), all I could think was: "Oooooohhh yeah! I'm coming back here again!" We were making an afternoon loop from Guanica, so time was cruelly limited; but I brought all I needed to enjoy some body surfing in that beautiful bay! Maybe it's just the vibe of 'the moment' that is still lodged in my memory, but I think La Playuela just might be one of my ALL-TIME FAVES among PR beaches! And that includes both Vieques AND Culebra, where we've spent a LOT of beach time over the years. ,Stunning, natural beauty combined with a pleasing lack of 'infrastructure' and a south-facing Caribbean beach makes this a dream spot.I've long held Flamenco (on Culebra) as the best beach in this part of the globe -- when it comes to offering a "no rules," low/no-commerce, laid-back, pack-in-what-you-need, safe-surf-for-all vibe. But it may well take a back seat to La Playuela, after my next (extended) visit to Cabo Rojo. Even though PR generally has wonderful "facilities" at other public beaches, I'm extremely glad that they're absent at Playuela. If you need access to a cabana bar or ice cream vendors or a 'proper restroom,' you will LOVE Flamenco... but you'll have no lighthouse on the rocky horizon nor gorgeous sunset. Flamenco faces north into Atlantic waters, but trust me -- it is not to be missed! You'll even have a spectacular, gull's-eye view of the entire beach, if you fly into Culebra, instead of arriving by boat/ferry. Great all-around experience at La Playuela... cannot wait to return!!!

I like the serenity and natural beauty of the place.the beach is amazing (white fine sand) and the around the faro, with its cliff views are breathtaking. Reminded us of Maui a bit.

This lighthouse sits on the southwest corner of Puerto Rico in the municipality of Cabo Rojo. It affords some of the most magnificent views to be seen on the island. And it is not merely a site to visit, it continues to operate providing warning to vessels traversing the Mona passage, a treacherous body of water which separates Puerto Rico from Hispaniolo. From the precipice, one can look down on the tall red cliffs which, it is said led Christopher Columbus to name the area Cabo Rojo (red banks). The view back across the island is also spectacular. There are the salt flats, the large Nature Refuge, and the towering mountains of the Cordillera Centrale.

One of the must see places in Puerto Rico, not only is there a great beach there, but you can also see the lighthouse, the cliffs, and if you wait for the sunset, you won't be disappointed, just find the right angle.

Its very well maintained by the municipality of Cabo Rojo. A friendly staff and very informative guide is inside of the lighthouse. Great views of Las salinas

I was recommended this place by few friends from Puerto Rico. They told me it's a bit of a drive, but it is totally worth it. The views are absolutely spectacular. You can tour the lighthouse for free.If you are in the area, definitely plan to visit this place.

Isolated, beautiful and worth the drive. You can walk along the cliffs, enjoy the pounding surf and then walk down to the beach for another perspective. We were welcomed by a trio of kittens - wish we had brought some food for them

I have never seen such a a nice view as this, at least in a long time. It's breath taking. A must seen place located at the northwest side of Puerto Rico.

It's a little hike to get to this lighthouse but well worth it. We arrived after it had closed to the public so we missed out on going inside. Still experienced the most stunning sunset over the ocean. Very scenic. Great photo ops.
