We went to both Saltos and both were Beautiful!! Salto de Jimenoa II is easier to reach than Santo de Jimenoa I. I recommend that in Salto de Jimenoa I you get a guide guy if you want to swim since on the way there are short cuts for this. We did not do it, but i am coming back in the summer and i will get to the river.

The trek to the waterfall was fun. Suspension bridges helped out a lot. You pass by an electrical power plant that was interesting. 150 pesos each for entry.

Nice experience walking the bridges to Salto de Jimenoa, be careful some of the railings are not safe at all.

Both of the jimenoa falls are gorgeous and absolutely worth the trip. Even though the water is cold, bring your swimsuit because you might find the water irresistible. (Ask where it's safe to swim)

There are at least two waterfalls called Salto Jimenoa. The one most often reviewed here is usually just called "Salto Jimenoa" and is located above the hydropower plant on the road that takes off of Rt. 28 east of Jarabacoa and goes by the golf club (see https://geolocation.ws/v/P/2429228/salto-de-jimenoa-jarabacoa/en ). The other, larger falls, is on a path down from the Jarabacoa-Constanza road, and is usually called "Salto Jimenoa Uno". This is the one where the Jurassic Park opening scene was filmed. There are no hanging bridges to negotiate, just a fairly steep downhill path. We accepted the guide's offer to go with us and that was good, not because we would have gotten lost, but because he is well informed, helpful, and charming. He said: "just pay whatever you choose when we're done". There are ecological signs along the way in English and Spanish. A really beautiful spot! Watch for confusion: the two Saltos seem to have interchangeable names, though they are quite different.

We got there by rental car. It was a bit complicated to find the right road, but succeeded with Google maps. Parking lot is paid (about 100 RDS) with a small stall to refresh yourself. Then you walk 200m down the road to the brigde where is the actual entrance (fee about 50 RDS / person). From here you walk up along the river - first half mostly on cable bridges, sencond half normal pathway with stairs. Whole distance about 1km or less (easy difficulty). The river is nice, full of huge boulders lying on rocks of different colours, small ponds in between and crystal water - whole set in a small canyon. At the end of the path you reach a platform from which you have a look on the waterfall itself which is beatiful and really big. But you can't reach the pond under it, nor swim in it and the view is kind of limited. The only swiming place is a small pond in the middle of the way there with sandy shore. We walked around few stones up the stream and had a private natural jacuzzi (water level was low, so no strong streams, it was safe). We were at the end of November and met just 4 other visitors during about one hour.If you have way to Jarabacoa it's a nice trip, not breathtaking. But if you're into something a littble more adventurous/less people I recommend the other waterfall to the south-east of Jarabacoa (on the main road to Constanza about 7 km from Jarabacoa, almost no signs, you have to ask people). There are actually three waterfall places around Jarabacoa.

Great views in your walk along the river with lots of foot bridges to cross. Not a bad walk/hike and well worth it. One of the natural wonders of the Dominican Republic. A nice way to spend a couple of hours.BObK

It is a beautiful place. If you visit Jarabacoa, which is a must visit city in Dominican Republic you can go to enjoy the the calm and beauty of their forest. It was wonderful to me, I was able ven to enjoy of the rain that was raining and washed myself under it. Not advised if you want to visit only, just include it in your plans along with other visits.

This was a day excursion away from Santo Domingo. The trip included a nice long scenic bus ride to Jarabaco. We opted to pay a driver to take us to two waterfalls...one of them being Salto de Jimenoa. It had suspension bridge that swayed like crazy. It was a bit of a hike for sure. But I thought the lay of the land was beautiful and the water was nice and cool. When we went it was a very picturesque and lovely day.

Its a great place to compliment a current trip but it is not worth planning a trip just for this. Plan for about 2-3 hour stay.

Certainly worthwhile this walk and view! Take a detour to this place (and some water). Small fee to enter.

The waterfall isn't that impressive and you can't swim near the area where the waterfall is. You can only swim more down river and only when there is enough water. In our case, the water was pretty low.Don't use a travel guide, overcharging for something you can definitely do yourself. We did go there on hirseback, which was nice but it takes very long and the horse chairs aren't that comfy so your behind may be sore a few hours later!
