I noticed how people don't come here too often during the sunset. The sunset here is beautiful! The banyan tree that has wrapped itself around the church bell tower is right by the river and you have the perfect view of the sunset . When we bring friends to Butuan, we cap off the afternoon here while I prepare them an array of the local delicacies.

I had trouble finding this spot so here are some directions. From the main highway. Travel 2.5 km then take the track on the left. After 500 m beer left again.

The church was built here around 1625 by Friars was burned down in 1753 by Moro pirates. The only thing that remains of this church is its bell tower tress. It was considered the most beautiful church in the region before it was destroyed. Now it is just a ruin of an old stone church but it is still a sacred spot to me. It's ancient history at your feet.

when you visit butuan for the first time, it is recommended to visit one of its landmark which is the banza church ruins. The government has improved its marker and nearby the marker, we can find some of the church ruins in the foot of a tree. This site has been visited by both local and foreign tourist for its historical background... History has it, that the early inhabitants of the island embraces Christianity and the first church was built. For students, this has been a part of their educational tours.
