Rohtang pass is a major attraction for those tourists who are residents of plains and in their journey they are on hills-Plan your journey from Manali and reserve a full day for Rohtang ;it is better that you should leave manali about 5 am for Rohtang;hire your dress from on road shops it is must never go ahead with proper dress ;ready for a jamm anywhere when you are on way to Rohtang;your vehicle must be fit and fair for a steep hilly ride;nice place to enjoy but crowd in season will disappoint you in season-ever visited two times-thanks-Sumer Singh Saran-

This is a main attraction in Manali. This is placed on the top of the hills where some area is plane. If you want to enjoy the snow without going to Kashmir, this is the right place. Here rather than snow you will also enjoy snow bike riding, skiing and Paragliding, woohoo. The best time for wondering here is from sunshine morning to evening. You need to hire a cab or taxi from local providers to reach there and also hire clothes and snow shoes. The time when the fresh snowfall has occurred is the best time, but you have to be lucky for that. If more snowfall has occurred and roads are slippery, than you will not be allowed to go for Rohtang Pass exactly. You will be carried to the intermediate place that comes on the way to Rohtang.Time to watch out is After the mid of December to the mid of January. After January the possibility of snowfall is high and you wont get chance to go for Rohtang. Because roads are closed if heavy snowfall occurs.

Rohtang is the most famous attraction of manali.Very heavy traffic takes 4-6 hrs to cover 50 kms distance from mall road manali in season times. One has to leave manali by 4 pm to get the 4-5 hrs time for the activities at the snow at rohtang. It lies on the way to Leh from manali and has one waterfall and beas kund as the associated attractions on the way.Oxygen level are reduced...asthma patients should take care.A must see attraction to feel the fresh breezes at the top of the himalayan range.Lot of sports activities goes on.The best time to visit is June-Sep.All warm jackets and clothes are availableon rent on the way...350 shops are there.

It is a direct freeway from Manali- Leh. One of the main tourist destination in Manali. It is know for skiing and snow Mountaineering, the weather of that particular altitude is very pleasant and unpredictable. No doubt it is very crowded and very very messy all over you will find paper, plastic bags and empty bottles. The snow motors appear more worst thing in that place , while driving it on snow it Tyre convert snow to muds........Sanitation problem is also there.BOO to HP TOURISM

This place is 'The Awesome place'. It was such a wonderful moment and views that I still feel like to go back there and have a cup of coffee in those mini tea stalls. It was too chilling. I recommend to wear heavy warm clothes. We hired bikes from manali (I.e. Thunderbird and Royal Enfield, which actually gives you the real feeling). Because we liked the ride so much that we decided to go the next day also. Yea I will definitely go to that place once again.

Actually, there is nothing there; it's just a pass on the Manali-Leh Highway. It has become a tourist attraction, don't know for what reason. It's a completely barren landscape. The only reason I can think of is the presence of snow, even when there is no snow in Manali. Only thing you can do there is snow biking or walking on the snow. Neither food nor tea/coffee is available there. Solang may be a better option if you have to do snow activities.

Even though Rohtang pass is a must visit for any tourist going to Manali, disappointment sets in when one does find snow there. Last October during Dusshera vacations, we started for Rohtang at 0600 hrs and were among the first few there. On the way we had taken heavy warm(dangri), boots on rent and purchased woolen socks and sun goggles like many others. The locals never informed that there is no snow since many days. This must have happened with almost 600-700 vehicles which we saw while returning.. So it is better to enquire first and then plan for Rohtang...

Breathtaking view of the snowy Himalayas. i encountered fresh white snow which is soft and interesting. quad bikes and 4 wheel drive vehicles are available to take you a ride. alternatively one can take a walk. Go with proper precautions like heavy warm cloths, lip balms and moisturizers..

We had visited Manali 2 years back and the main reason was to visit Rohtang pass. It really gets risky when u go up (although only 4 wheel cars are allowed), as the snow on the road makes the car skid. It takes at least 2 hrs to reach top of the peak and once you are there its heaven. U can c the Laddak border which looks beautiful. Avoid going to Rohtang between July-Sept as snow melts and the mud blocks the way. Lastly, don't forget to enjoy the snow bike ride which is an unforgettable exp.

Rohtang Pass is around 40 km from Manali on Manali-Leh road. Start early from Manali as the the 40 km drive might take 2-3 hours. The drive is scenic and you would enjoy the journey. The road is slightly convoluted but the journey is enjoyable never the less. Beware of the numerous touts/ shopkeepers selling/renting warm clothes, boots for snow, safety equipment etc on the way. Assuming that one would come well prepared to Manali if Rohtang is on the itinerary, you would do just fine with your own resources. On most occasions one can find snow at Rohtang pass. The views of the snow covered mountains are spectacular. Just walk around and absorb the beauty and grandness of the mountains. You might just feel tempted to come back again some day and explore the enigma beyond as the road goes down to mountains on the other side towards Leh.At that height, the air is very thin and oxygen levels are slightly lower so one gets tired very fast. Make sure you take rest after walking small distances so that you don't tire yourself out. Wind also blows at a decent speed at that height. But nothing unmanageable for a normal person. You won't find many options as far as food is concerned. Tea and Maggi might be the safest option. One can spend a few hours at the top just absorbing the views and peace on offer. In the afternoon one can head back to Manali with the memories that would stay with you for long.

I traveled to rohtang pass in Mid November 2014 with my wife...We hired a royal enfield through a friends recommendation. I feel It is the best thing you can do in manali..Travel on bike to rohtang...Weather was awesome, no snow fall on the road. There were some snow covered peaks in rohtang....Its just 51 Km from rohtang but the journey is superb..Curvy roads, beautiful nature. Absolute must for bikers and road quality is very good thanks to BRO ! You can get small eateries on the way & on top of rohtang pass. Well there is not much to do at the actual spot but you can enjoy the great himalaya and its beauty from top ! Overall great fun ...
