Its a small but cool place to sit, relax and enjoy the day. There is a kulfi stand near by and on the opposite side too. Try kulfis there, they are good.

Gandhi statue in Pondicherry beach is one of the important monuments in the City. It is a black statue located right in front of the old light house/customs building, surrounded by 8 pillars carved out of single stones each that are beautifully arranged. A very few people are aware that the statue was installed recently compared to the pillars. In the early days, this place used to be a port. One can see the remains of the pillars from the bridge inside the sea. Nowadays Gandhi Statue is used as Kids playground and landmark for people to meet in crowded beach and the statue gets its attention only a few days in a year.

This is along goubert road-- seaside promenade. Lovely to sit and watch people, esp those with kids taking photos together with the statue. It's right at the entrance to what used to be a major pier, flanked by huge stone carved pillars. It's about mid-way along the seaside promenade, and a good landmark to remember directions.

This prominent statue of India's father, Mahatma Gandhi looks very impressive in black. Its location right on the Promenade is perfect and can not be missed. It is 4 meters high and is surrounded by by eight white granite pillars which were brought from Gingee, a fort 70 kms away from Pondicherry.

Goubert Road, (Beach road) we have seen the Gandhi Statue, beautiful statue in black colour. But top portion is covered. The pillars are there on the 3 sides. It is a must see items in Pondicherry..
