I love San Juan del Sur bay, I have been coming here since I was a little girl... still a very nice small town where the peaceful waters make a perfectly safe swimming in the ocean.

Great beach. We didn't swim in it but we waded in it. People say it's not great to swim in but we thought is was very nice and clean. We enjoyed coming out and walking the beach each morning and evening. Also, we saw people running on the beach and I think it would be great for exercising. The sunsets on the beach were beautiful. Water is cold! Lots of bars and restaurants to eat and have drinks at along the beach.

nice beach to walk but nowhere to really lounge and in Feb the winds are pretty strong so you would it blasted by sand with every gust

This is such a beautiful beach to walk in the morning. It is completely flat and easy to walk. Beware of the dogs playing in the beach! They are having fun and wild! My husband got hit by one of the dogs while walking and hurt his knee!

It is beautiful place, clean, good restaurants, great atmosphere, quite, peaceful place. Everybody is relaxed. We felt just as in a different country, after Managua.

Great in the early morning with walkers, joggers and fishermen, has weekend sports activities like volleyball and water jet packs. Quiet in the afternoons as most surfers are out of town, but tricky in the evening with guys prowling for female tourists and prostitutes working the esplanade from the beach. Not safe then for a female.

When the tide is low the beach seems huge and the water so far away but once the tide is high a completely different story, water comes right up to the restaurants. Always clean, always a lot of activities. Prices are not like they used to be, things have much more expensive...

The beach itself is nothing special and dirty also i believe the black water from some of the hotels runs into the beach...I would never swim there at all...and the view to the ocean is blocked by 5o motors yachts boats which anker in the bay...There is also some pollution of the cruise ships...This formerly nice place turns to a overbuild ugly town.its still in early stage but in a few years it will look like.(Puerto Vallarta Cancun,,,Benidorm etc...Its a shame that that happen also here....Will never ever come back...

Beautiful little bay with sandy shoreline, bars and restaurants. The town of San Juan del Sur offers lots of shopping as well. Find a great spot, grab something cool to drink and just sit back and relax. You won't be disappointed.

beach was ok, but the wind was outrageous and the sand got into everything. The vendors got to be very annoying.

Both the beach itself and the water seems a bit dirty. Would need a clean up. The sunset view is great however but it's better to take a shuttle to other beaches during the day.

We did not know this, but in February the winds around here can be ferocious. We can't get near the water because the wind drives the sand into us. The ferry's to Ometepe are being cancelled off and on this week also due to wind.

We were a little unsure what we would think of this beach after reading other reviews. It was definitely a pretty crescent shaped bay with nice sunsets and beachside restaurants with wonderful views. On closer inspection, it is pretty dirty. A yucky river that flows into it with lots of sewage looking stuff floating it. Also lots of garbage around. Also when eating in the restaurants we were constantly approached by people selling things and kids begging for money who would stand there staring at us with sad puppy looks on their faces. It was a bit unnerving and took away from experience for sure. We didn't go in the water even though it was blazing hot. Others were. Maybe it was fine. We just weren't sure if it was clean. Probably wouldn't visit here again.

When you don't feel like making the hike to Maderas or one of the other beaches around San Juan Del Sur, the beach here will suffice. It's not super pretty, super clean, or protected from the wind, but it is a short walk from town. On the hottest of days, when a trip out of town is out of the quesiton, you can still pop into the water for a quick dip here. The sand definitely sticks to you, so be sure to schedule a rinse session after your stay at this beach. Also, on windy days, the sand whips up pretty fierce, so check the weather report.
