Great place to run, walk, or bike with kids . Has a paved loop trail that's around 3.5 miles. Also has paved trails that interconnect if you want to do a smaller loop. There's a fishing pier, nature center, a pond with turtles, a lookout gazebo with binocular machines, an owl and hawk display, workout system along the paved trail, basketball courts, wall ball courts, dirt trails, pavilions, grills, a beach, a dog beach, playgrounds, and much more. All around great park with some history as well. Great for kids and dogs and big enough to not be crowded even when there's a crowd.

This is a great place for walking, jogging, biking, or just relaxing by the water. There is a fishing pier, dog beach, and wooded trails. Throw your blanket on the grass and have a picnic while watching the ships go by. They offer free lifetime passes for veterans and discounted passes for seniors. And they have just lowered their regular entrance fee.

There is a lot to do here for everyone from fishing to playing ball. The picnic areas are clean and the rangers patrol to give you the sense of safety.

October is the perfect time to visit this park to watch the woods come alive with brilliant colors . The view is picture perfect as you walk on the trails. Benches along the way will entice you to sit awhile and" take a few minutes to enjoy the view" Unlike the TV program, you can relax and be swept away by nature. I would recommend this park for hikers, bike riders, and walkers. The trails are easy to navigate and is ideal for seniors or persons with limited mobility. Reservations are required to rent special meeting spaces.

You don't need to own a home on the water to enjoy the treasure of the Chesapeake Bay. Simply visit Downs Park and feel as if it is an extension of your own backyard. Long walks on the well-maintained trails, countless benches upon which you can sit and enjoy the view, and even a dog beach. Bring your own or enjoy watching other people's furry friends. A relaxing way to spend a Sunday.

I have seen bikers, walkers, photographers, runners, nature enthusiasts enjoy this park, and everything from family reunions, birthdays, summer cookouts, to weddings can be booked here with ample notification & for a fraction of what a function hall or big- name park might cost you. This place is so easily accessible, right at the end of Mt Rd/Rt 177. As others have mentioned, it's free for active duty mil/retired mil too! Just show your ID and they'll probably ask you to swing by the visitors centers (a lovely building) to get your yellow Anne Arundel County park pass for active/retired mil.

Located almost at the end of Mountain Road in Pasadena, This park is loaded with wild life. Dear, fox, coons, possum, rabbits and I could go on and on. Also, many species of sea birds and migrating geese and wild birds. There is even a long pier gutting out into the Chesapeake Bay for viewing the water traffic or fishing. Can't go wrong!

Downs Park has something for all ages and interests. To mention a few........ Excellent children's playground, campsites, picnic areas, walks along the Bay and through the woods, fishing pier accessible for the handicapped, nature studies including a rescue area for large birds, benches to sit and watch the ships go on their way, walking and bike trails and a memory garden. You can also get married in the park. A good place to spend a family afternoon in the surround of nature.

About the only headache I have with this place is I seem to pick the exact time to go that the whole state has decided to go...It's got a dog beach, running trails, and even a little work out area with a few free weights and some pull up bars. I love going here and I love running here.

Down’s Park is the jewel of a group of county parks accessible by one annual pass; it has the features of being a mini-National Park, yet is right in my backyard. It’s my go-to place for photography, and I’m there 5-6 times a month, year-round.Pinehurst Road divides the park into two halves, and each side has its own flavor. The Bay side has vistas over the Chesapeake, wide open areas and a garden, while the woods side, accessed by a pedestrian bridge over the road, is an unending green canopy over numerous foot paths. Both sides have enough wildlife to keep one interested for a lifetime. Unless you are very unlucky, you will always see osprey circling overhead; in the spring they are with their young, who are born on platforms built for them on the water, or in huge woody nests high overhead in trees. Bald eagles and hawks hang out by the inlet, and you can always find the woodpeckers there by their incessant hammering. Deer are numerous; in the spring and summer there are plenty of speckled fawns, and in fall, the reclusive bucks appear. In the pond on the bay side, you will find turtles, toads, herons, egrets, and the neon bright flame skimmer dragonflies.Look up and look down. You never know what might be watching you back. When I can’t be in an actual National Park, Downs Park goes a long way in keeping me happy.

I have been going to downs park as a kid and the County Park service has made some excellent improvements over the years. All Anne Arundel Parks are still free for Veterans and Active Duty. All you have to present your DD214 or your Active Duty ID at the gate to receive a pass. Lots of paved trails and pavillions.

Downs Park is 236 acres on the Chesapeake, with extensive paved and natural paths for walking, bike riding, etc.Pavilions are available for picnics and cookouts. There is fishing pier in the Bay and a playground, dog beach, ball fields, etc. Human swimming is not allowed. The is a small parking charge except during concerts, which are currently held in June and September. Search "Downs Park Pasadena concerts" for details. We enjoy taking a picnic dinner to have while we listen to the music, with the Chesapeake Bay as a backdrop. We also see the cruise ship leaving Baltimore every Sunday evening and cargo and car carrier ships going to and from Baltimore harbor.

I love coming to Downs Park! We always take our dog and he loves going on the trails and playing in the fields. There is exercise equipment along the trails which is neat and always some nice little gardens. I grew up near the bay and this place reminds of my home and childhood. My husband took me here when we were first dating and so it always brings back sweet memories.

Downs Park is a well maintained park along the Chesapeake Bay. Here are trails for biking and hiking, concerts in the summer, a small but interesting visitors center, and a nature walk with a garden and an aviary with owls and red tailed hawks.. You will almost always see deer on your late afternoon walk.
