Very comfortable seats, great sound system, excellent screen and really nice people running the place. Very much enjoyed the experience.

a great newly built theater, every seat with an unobstructed view of the curtain, seats that are comfortable and Richard's vision in bringing art films and first run films to a community that has nothing like it.

The film center has made a major difference on the island. It runs interesting films (and hosts other events), sometimes with appearances by the filmmakers or others connected with them. (this summer I attended two such events with fascinating Q & A sessions). Highly recommended. and become a member for discounts on the tickets not to mention supporting a fine new institution.

While on a tour of the city we stop to admire the place were the film Jaws was made, that's the real thing.being on the place were the movie was made it looks so different from scary scenes of the movie.amazing place.

We love the range of films avaialble on the Vineyard and mourn the loss of several theatres on the Island. The Film Center offers interesting films and the theatre has comfortable seats with good views of the screen from all parts of the theatre. Interesting snack bar as well and parking has not been a problems

Although most of us travel to the Vineyard to partake in outdoor activities, there definitely is a place for a quality movie house, such as the Film Center in Vineyard Haven. My family took advantage of some terrific movie offerings this past week, and it was especially nice for my father-in-law, who has limited mobility, and wanted to have interesting options when he was unable to participate in our more physical activities (he went three times!). The theater itself is stylish (the lobby looks like you walked into an art gallery) and exceptionally clean; the seats are comfortable and sight lines are great. Movie offerings are diverse, the crowds are well mannered, and the owner not only greets and ushers patrons, but he introduces the films and adds a bit of personality to an evening "at the show". This is not the place to bring your kids for popcorn (concessions are minimal) and a Transformers movie - go to the Edgartown theaters for that. Ticket prices are on the high side, but so is everything else on the island. Enjoy.

The only thing larger than the ticket prices...Richard's ego! Come on, this is a small island off the coast of Massachusetts, not NYC.

...has become a community's treasure! Thank You, Richard P, for your blood, sweat, & tears in bringing the Film Center to life!Always great bookings, & fun programming (Guests, Speakers, theme-night co-ops with local restaurants). Much more than just Good Movies. We live here, we love the Film Center, and we'll see you on movie night!

Although we all love Martha's Vineyard for it's sylvan setting and glorious beaches and water views, sometimes you need a little entertainment of a more sophisticated nature. Sadly, except for the small Edgartown twin theater that mostly exhibits blockbuster and wide releases (fun, too, but not all the time) the rest of the ancient theaters on the island are in terrible disrepair and, worse, closed! The new Film Center theater in The Tisbury Marketplace changed movie-going on the island for so much the better a couple of years ago. I live in NYC in the winter and even there we only have a single theater on the upper West side that shows the kind of independent, foreign, documentaries, classic or off-the-beaten-path kind of fare the Film Center offers. The beautiful new theater has stadium seating, so even a shrimp like me can always see the screen. Ticket prices are reasonable and if you're in town long enough you can become a member and get discounted admission. If you'd rather see a film like Chef than one like X-Men (or see both, if you like!), now you can, even on gorgeous, tiny, nature-oriented Martha's Vineyard. There are several places to get food -- the Net Result for fantastic fried clams (and more), chowder, salads, wraps, lobster; and a great pizza joint -- so you can make a fun evening out of it. Can you tell I'm a fan? You will be, too.

We love this new film center. Richard and his crew do a tremendous job of film selection and customer service. Can't wait for the September Film Festival.

The film selection is fantastic, the amount of special and advanced screenings is great, the snack selection is wonderful, the seating comfortable, and has all the great touches of a more personalized independent movie theater.

This is a small personal theater. The snack bar is also small, offering a different selection--you probably will not find junior mints here. The seating is very comfy, the sight lines are great (i am short & too often have sat behind tall people --not an issue here). The selection of movies offered is varied, sometime quirky, and often a movie that you might read about but not get a chance to see. This puts the other movie houses on the island to shame. The Net Result and Rocco's pizza are next door so you could grab a quick bit before catching a movie. I wish there was somewhere near by where you could go after the movie for a dessert and discuss the movie you just saw.

Very comfy seats, pleasant surroundings, good sound, easy walk from Main Street, small array of snacks and drinks.

Saw Woody Pines last week. Quirky, folk rock trio who we'd yet heard of, but wanted to see some live entertainment in the winter and this brand new film/art/entertainment theatre is a welcome venue especially to the Vineyard Haven section of the island.

Year round culture vultures jumped for joy when this theater opened! Imagine a state-of-the-art independent film center for our little community (not so little in July and August). It has aestheically pleasing interiors and by far the most comfortable cushy bouncy movie theater seats I've ever sat in (and our Vneyard color -- purple -- to boot). The screen and audio are superb. Film selection thoughtfully curated and a balance of documentaries, indies, classics, foreign, cult and even a few regular popular commercial movies. If you care deeply about your beverages and/or snacks, bring you own, the selection is limited. Love this place! I might even leave my house once in a while in the deep of winter for a change.
